A hurricane warning message was sent out to the mobile phones of many people in the Central Florida area. The Emergency Alert comes from the National Weather Service and notes that a hurricane warning is in effect for the area.
UPDATE: The hurricane warning now lasts through October 8th at 6PM ET.
The message encourages residents to start preparing for the storm ahead by gathering supplies, including food, water, cash, fuel, and medications. The National Weather Service advises to have these items for at least a 3-day stock. It also notes that everyone should follow instructions from local officials.
Members of our team who reside in Orange County, Florida received this message on their phones, however, it’s likely being sent out to many in the Central Florida area. The National Weather Service notes that a Hurricane Warning is in effect for Northern Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Southern Lake counties at this time. Orange and Osceola counties are the area where Disney World is located.
We’re still keeping a close eye on businesses in the Central Florida area (including the theme parks) to learn more about potential closures related to the hurricane. Disney World has already updated some booking policies and closed new reservations for select travel dates.
