Hurricane Milton will soon be making landfall in Florida.
We’ve been keeping an eye on the storm, which is currently churning through the Gulf of Mexico as a Category 4 storm — after holding as a Category 5 for most of Monday. Much of the state is under a hurricane warning with many expecting major theme parks to close in preparation for the storm — including Busch Gardens Tampa Bay.

Hurricane Milton is expected to make landfall sometime late Wednesday, October 9th, and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is taking precautions to keep parkgoers, employees, and animals safe.
An update was shared on the park’s Instagram page advising that Busch Gardens Tampa Bay would be closed on Tuesday, October 8th; Wednesday, October 9th; and Thursday, October 10th due to Hurricane Milton.
The full statement reads:
“After reviewing the latest route of Hurricane Milton, and to ensure the safety of our ambassadors, guests and animals, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay will be closed on Tuesday (10/8), Wednesday (10/9), and Thursday (10/10). Guests are encouraged to check our website and follow our social media channels for updates on park reopening.”
At the time of publication, both Disney World and Universal Orlando remain open — though that could change at any moment. Disney World had already restricted hotel reservations and park passes for Wednesday and has announced the closure of select hotels that may not be as safe as others.
We’ll be keeping an eye on the latest theme park closures in Florida and will let you know if Universal Orlando or Disney World announce any further closures — including to the parks.
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for additional updates regarding Hurricane Milton that could impact your vacation.
