An attraction that was part of the 1998 opening day for Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park will be closing soon.
Animal Kingdom’s park icon, the Tree of Life has been home to It’s Tough to Be a Bug!
Along with the It’s Tough to Be A Bug closure, Disney also announced that DinoLand U.S.A. will be transformed into a Tropical Americas-themed land named Pueblo Esperanza, including three new attractions! These attractions include an Encanto-themed attraction, a carousel, and an Indiana Jones-themed attraction.
So, when will this attraction close to park guests?
It’s Tough to be a Bug!
At the Destination D23 fan convention in 2023, it was announced that It’s Tough to be a Bug! themed after the Pixar film A Bug’s Life will be re-themed as Zootopia: Better Zoogether.
No exact closing date has been announced. But keep in mind that the announcement may be imminent as the new Zootopia show is confirmed to open in the winter of 2025.
We will continue to monitor any news of these permanent closures at Disney World. As always, keep following along with Disney Food Blog for more Disney news, updates, and tips!

“Winter of 2025” is pretty ambiguous. It could mean early 2025 or late 2025.

Won’t miss it. Not entertaining at all, just a bunch of mean, scary “characters” and special effects. Not fun for kids or many adults.

A great, out of the box thinking attraction. Will be sad to see it go. Zootopia…what’s that. At lease I have seen the Ants movie, loved the characters and the show works with that.

I definitely enjoy It’s tough to be a bug. I just hope we get to see it again when we go in January 2025. It seems to me that Disney is putting too much emphasis on what is currently popular ( Encanto, Zootopia, cars, etc.) to the detriment of many of the popular tried and true things such as Tom Sawyers Island and the Liberty boat. In a few years no one will have heard of Zootopia and Encanto and it will be off to what is popular in that day. New is not necessarily better and will take away all that Disney was and no longer is.

This doesn’t make sense. They are replacing bugs under a tree which makes sense, with zoo animals under a tree?? Not a fan of this change at all.

I love this attraction and will miss it. But time marches on and it is too scary for little ones! Hopefully the new one will be more kid friendly.
