Pueblo Esperanza is the NEW Tropical Americas-themed land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
This new land will feature details from the Tropical Americas as well as Encanto and Indiana Jones rides. We’ll see the beautiful and bountiful life from these areas of the world while enjoying aspects of some fun Disney movies! The new land will be replacing what is currently DinoLand, U.S.A., at Animal Kingdom, and construction will be beginning soon. In fact, Disney just made a HUGE announcement about the first phase of the creation of this new land.
Disney had previously announced that it would begin work on Pueblo Esperanza sometime in the fall of 2024. However, they mentioned that you still had time to ride the popular ride Dinosaur before it, and the other DinoLand rides would go away forever.
Well, now we know exactly when the first phase of DinoLand attractions will be closing to make room for the new land. Disney announced that the last day for TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures at Animal Kingdom is January 12th, 2025. Construction walls will go up around these areas on January 13th.
It seems as though DINOSAUR, the Boneyard, Restaurantosaurus, Dino-Bite Snacks, and Trilo-Bites will stay open for now.
This means that we only have a limited time left to enjoy these DinoLand attractions! Hurry over to Animal Kingdom before they’re gone forever.
When the new land is done, there will be a ride through Casa Madrigal, an Indiana Jones ride, and a carved wooden carousel featuring tropical animals. There will also be at least one restaurant and other attractions, including a large fountain where stories will be told by gathering villagers. The Tropical Americas are home to the largest biodiversity on Earth, so it’s likely we’ll see some amazing details from these areas.
While DinoLand is leaving Animal Kingdom, a new, exciting land is yet to come. The new land is set to open in 2027! We’ll be watching for more updates, so keep following DFB!

I was just wondering. When so many rides, restaurants etc. close, do people loose their jobs or are they moved to other WDW jobs? I feel sorry for the employees.

I’m not sure how the Casa Madrigal theme fits in with the Animal Kingdom theme. Why can’t the leave Dinoland and expand Animal Kingdom? There is plenty of land in Disney World. It would probably be a better fit for Hollywood Studios or some of the empty spots in Epcot (like near Mexico)

I agree. Indy and Encanto would be better for Hollywood Studios. Leave Dinoland alone. Put AK back the way it was! More animals are needed in Animal Kingdom, perhaps from South America! As she said, Disney has a lot of land. They are also ruining MK by closing Big Thunder Railroad, Tom Sawyer Island and the riverboat. And how will this construction impact Haunted Mansion, the fruitstand and the paths to Fantasyland or Liberty Square? They seem to be getting rid of everything Walt created or imagined. Besides eventually ruining the parks (or at least making them unrecognizable) as well as certain resorts (to appease DVC guests), they are subjecting guests to years of construction which takes away a lot of the magic! Yet they are raising prices while giving us less! Disney was built for middle class Americans with rides and attractions that could each be enjoyed by every family member together…but it seems that Iger and the Board can only see dollar signs and wish to turn wdw into a mediocre amusement park. It’s very sad. I think they will lose the guests who loved and grew up with Disney….

I hope Coco elements make it into the area at some point, too! Encanto was sweet, but Coco had something really special, I thought. (Maybe it’s the Alzheimer’s grandmother that struck a chord with me…)
I’m also hopeful that Dinosaur holds out at least until after our visit next early September! I’ve been looking forward to that ride since I started planning three years ago, and my heart broke a little when I found out I might never get to experience it. :/ I’ve loved dinos since I was a little girl, so I’m honestly saddened they’re taking it away from Animal Kingdom. (I’m also slightly confused why it’s being replaced with a non-animal attraction; as Josef commented…)

If the theme is Tropical Americas, I wish they would put in an animal attraction similar to Kilimanjaro Safari, Gorilla Falls Trail or Maharajah Jungle Trek. Let us see the jaguars and caimans and such. It’s Animal Kingdom, after all.

I hope the new rides they are building will be wheelchair accessible!! There are so many rides that are NOT wheelchair friendly!
