There are some iconic Disney souvenirs out there, ones that people collect each time they take a trip, like ears, Loungefly bags, spirit jerseys, pins, and more.
However, there are other Disney souvenirs that are more of a once-in-a-lifetime things, even for guests who visit more often. Two of the most common examples of this are building a droid or a lightsaber over in Hollywood Studios‘ Galaxy’s Edge. While these experiences are fantastic, especially for Star Wars fans, there are a few problems with them, especially those massive Lightsabers.
Building a Lightsaber in Galaxy’s Edge will cost you $249.99 per person, which is FAR from being cheap, but it is a whole experience that many people, Star Wars fans or not, will never forget. So the price is one reason building this souvenir is an issue for many, but the real issues come after it’s been built.
If you’ve ever tried to get a Lightsaber home on a plane, it’s a handful for sure, and even if you drove, it can be hard fitting such a large souvenir into your jam packed car. And if you build it during the day and you plan on exploring the rest of Hollywood Studios after, you’ll need to plan to either drop it off in a locker, the car, or take it back to your hotel, because a lot of rides won’t let you ride with it!
But let’s say you’ve built your Lightsaber, you’ve gotten it home safe and sound, but now you come to the NEXT dilemma — where the heck do you put the thing? It looks amazing and super realistic, so you don’t want to tuck it away in a closet, but it also cost too much to play with it too heavily and risk it breaking. The best thing, in our opinion, is to display it!
We have many members of our team who have chosen to display their Lightsaber using the following different holders and displays, and they have all found this is their prefered “purpose” of the Lightsaber after you’ve built it!
If You Want The Galactic Empire Logo
If you want your holder to be clearly Star Wars coded, you’ll want to grab the Galactic Empire Lightsaber Wall Mount! This one is affordable and looks great on any wall, especially if you’ve got a room, or part of one, already dedicated to Star Wars.
For One That Blends Right In
If you’re looking for something that blends in with the wall a little more, you’ll like the WANLIAN Lightsaber Wall Mount. It’s clear on the bottom and top, so it won’t draw attention to anything but the Lightsaber itself.
Horizontal It Is!
Want your Lightsaber(s) to be displayed horizontally instead of vertically? Don’t worry, the TOPNEW Lightsaber Stand Wall Display has you covered.
Balling on A Budget
And lastly, if you’re balling on a budget and just need something for the time being, you can grab the Command Broom and Mop Grippers! These may not look the prettiest, but hey, they’ll get the job done and are good in a pinch.
We’re always here to help you with your Disney World vacations, including suggestions on what to do with your souvenirs when you get home, so stay tuned to DFB!

I shipped my home right after we built them. Didn’t have to carry it around and it arrived a day or two after our visit was through.

I’m going to WDW and I live in Australia, once I build the lightsaber, can it be dismantled for air travel??? I’m not thinking they would allow me on the plane with it.

So as a UK buyer of a lightsaber on a recent trip – I disagree with a lot of this post.
The Disney rides are geared up to taking stuff on board with the exception of Tron. In Hollywood studios we were able to carry on the lightsaber onto EVERY ride in the provided carry case that was supplied with the saber.
We were also able to board our flight home with it as hand luggage with not a single request that it needed checking in at any point or any additional charge required (flew with Virgin)
Regarding the stand, ours currently sits horizontal on the Disney World bought stand when we built the saber. These were an optional extra but the quality of the stand is great.
As for the price .. for anyone in doubt whether to do this or not due to pricing, I believe it was absolutely worth the money. The experience was absolutely brilliant and the quality of the case/lightsaber is of a very high standard and weight.

There’s no problem with taking these on a plane providing you declare it at check-in.

The TSA explicitly allows lightsabers on planes! https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/items/light-saber
