Deciding what to wear to Disney World is HARD, friends, we get it. We’ve been there!
We keep an eye on all the latest trends to see what fellow guests are wearing to the parks, and what may or may not be a good fit for your next trip. Not to mention that we keep our eyes peeled for all the latest deals online to make sure you’re getting the essentials at the best price possible. Which means that we’ve just come across this new potential trend starting up, and we’re telling you now that these are NOT the shoes for any Disney World park.
A lot of us are very familiar with Spanx because they’ve been in our closets for years. The creator of Spanx is Sara Blakely, who became a billionaire after creating the viral brand in 2000. Now she has started a new personal business venture called Sneex.
This product has been a decade in the making, according to the Wall Street Journal, after she faced numerous European factories “fire” her as she searched for a manufacturer to help her create the shoe, which is essentially a high-heeled sneaker. A factory in Paris finally partnered with her on the project, but has refused to be named when discussing the product.
No, we’re not kidding, you heard that right. Sneex are a cross between stilettos and sneakers, with the goal being to provide women with a more comfortable stiletto. In fact, that was Blakely’s original goal, making a more traditional-style stiletto that felt better, but when it didn’t pan out, she turned to combining stilettos with sneakers.
But Sneex are far from cheap, and their reviews are mixed to put it lightly. While Blakely’s company declined to share sales data, it’s been shared that 12% of buyers have already purchased a second pair of the $500+ shoes, and there are a whopping 11,000 people on the waiting list for sold-out styles.
But let us be the first to tell you, in case you’re on the fence — just because these look more like a sneaker DOES NOT MEAN they are good Disney World shoe material. The moment that heel gets caught in the Main Street U.S.A. tracks, or your feel start to hurt after the first mile of walking, you’re done for. It’s harsh, yes, but it’s the truth. The only time we say it may be an “okay” idea to wear heels in Disney World is if you’re heading to a dining reservation where you know you won’t be doing much walking.
We’re not here to tell you what you can and can’t wear, of course, but our recommendations do often come from personal experience since we have reporters in the park every day. And let’s just say, all of us winced when we saw these shoes, so take that as you will. Stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney World style news!
