Bring it back!
Over the years, we have seen hundreds, perhaps thousands, of limited-time food and snack items come and go in Walt Disney World. Sometimes they’re enjoyable, sometimes forgettable, but there aren’t too many that we’d actively campaign to return. THIS is one of them!
Back in 2021, Frontera Cocina at Disney Springs offered a special treat in honor of the resort’s 50th Anniversary Celebration: The Pigñata.
The pigñata was a pig-shaped chocolate shell filled with cajeta mousse, tender cake infused with Abasolo whiskey and vanilla, and a crumble made with chipotle bacon, candied orange, and Maria cookies, with hardened marshmallow facial features.
The dish was even served with a mallet to break through the chocolate shell.
The large dessert (seriously, you would need at least two people to get through it) featured some interesting flavor combinations, though we did find the sourness from the mousse and bacon a tad too strong. That said, this was a neat interactive dessert, that’s especially fun for kids and large groups.
We would welcome the return of the pigñata to Frontera Cocina at Disney Springs! Stay tuned to DFB for more on Disney’s snacks!
