Disney World hotels are far more than what they seem — they’re not just a place to rest your head at the end of a long park day, but instead feature plenty of activities and experiences, not to mention some stellar dining.
One Disney World hotel is home to a pretty popular activity that has been unavailable recently due to construction at the resort. But, may have spotted a sign that this activity might be back sooner than we originally thought!
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is home to a seriously surprising amount of activities for all sorts of fans. But, Horseback Riding has been unavailable since mid-July with an expected reopening date after the end of November — or so we thought.
We were taking a peek at the Fort Wilderness page on the Disney World website when we noticed that it looked like the calendar had been updated. The website still features a message indicating Horseback Riding will still be closed through the end of November, but when we change the dates on the calendar — available times pop up.
On November 8th, the Disney World website shows no times available…
…but on November 9th, we see times pop up again.
And then, between November 10th and 18th, no times are available. On November 19th, times are once again available. We spoke with a Cast Member to see if they could tell us what was going on and they were only able to see what we could see on the calendar and to keep checking the website for the latest information.
So, it’s possible that we could see Horseback Riding return to Fort Wilderness a bit earlier than expected — or this could just be a website glitch. Either way, we’ll be on the lookout for any more potential updates that could impact your trip!
In the meantime, we’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest news and announcements from Disney. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog so you don’t miss a thing!

Our favorite ‘hotel’ is the Cabins at Fort Wilderness. There are great activities at this resort. We’ve never done the horseback riding (and probably never will), but we’ve done archery, the segway tour, Hoop de Doo, the campire sing along, and probably other things that I’m forgetting. Oh! We did a carriage ride, but we felt like we were in that Seinfeld episode, if you know what I mean lol – so I wouldn’t recommend that. It was just okay, and the only thing we remember now is the smell. We felt bad for the horse, but those carriages are situated such that if your horse is having a bad gastrointestinal night, you are at ground zero.
