Although we love it when Disney announces all the new experiences and attractions they’ll be bringing to their parks, it can be a pretty big bummer when we hear about permanent closures.
And starting in early January, permanent closures will be taking place over at Disney World. Here’s a look at some experiences that will be disappearing forever.
Animal Kingdom will be experiencing not just one, but THREE total closures taking place on January 13th, 2025. All these closures will be taking place inside of DinoLand U.S.A. and our hearts truly hurt for our Dino friends.
TriceraTop Spin
Our days of being able to fly above the air while aboard a dino are numbered as TriceraTop Spin will be a part of the permanent closure.
TriceraTop Spin is a family-style ride that lifts you off into the air, very much like Dumbo, except on an awesome dinosaur. But soon, this ride will be no more, so make sure to catch the last flight before January 13th!
Fossil Fun Games
The fun carnival games you can find over at Dino-Rama will be no more, so if you’re hoping to grab one of the dinosaur plushies as a prize, you should do so soon!
Fossil Fun Games is inspired by classic boardwalk games and has guests whack dinosaurs, squirt targets, toss “comets” and more. This area is also home to the only photo booth inside of Animal Kingdom!
Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures
And last but not least, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures will also be seeing their last day on January 13th.
This whacky souvenir shop is designed to look like a whacky roadside gift shop serving up retro vibes and dino fun. Inside you can purchase apparel, accessories, plushes, and more, including vouchers to play the Fossil Fun Games.
These closures are a part of the Tropical Americas expansion coming to Animal Kingdom. This expansion will bring attractions themed after Encanto and Indiana Jones. Construction begins soon after the closures and is set to open in 2027. Although these attractions in DinoLand U.S.A. are set to close, Dinosaur, the Boneyard, Restaurantosaurus, Dino-Bite Snacks, and Trilo-Bites will remain open for the time being.
Although we are extremely torn up about these closures, we’re also excited about all the new and incredible changes that are coming to Animal Kingdom. Stay tuned as we bring you all the latest!

Janet says
Is it weird that of all the things in Dinoland the one I’m going to miss the most is Chester and Hester’s? I don’t know what it is about that store, but I just think it’s delightful. Every time we go in there we find something else interesting in the decor. Also, it was our go-to store for finding popular merchandise that was often sold out in other places. For whatever reason we had the best luck finding those types of things there. I’ll also miss the soundtrack that played throughout that area. It’s the best!
