It’s officially that time of year — Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) has kicked off in Magic Kingdom!
This is really the main event where we ring in the holiday season and start celebrating all things holly and jolly. With Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, complimentary cookies and cocoa, rare character meets, and more exclusive offerings, this party is usually a festive blast! But there’s one problem we’ve been noticing the past few years that we need to talk about.
Like many other offerings, the price of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party has continued to increase over the years. Last year, tickets ranged from $159 to $199 — depending on which night you chose to go. This year, those ticket prices have jumped up quite a bit, with a range from $169 to $219 per person.
Now, we wouldn’t mind the price increase so much if the event lasted a little longer. At $212 per person, these event tickets cost more than a regular Magic Kingdom park ticket, and the event starts at 7PM. Yes, you can enter Magic Kingdom starting at 4PM, but still, that’s half a park day for more than the price of a park ticket.
So, is the price of a ticket worth it this year? Well, we spotted some new entertainment scattered around the park this year, but most of the classic party elements remain the same. Some little things get modified from year to year, like the exclusive snacks available and the selection of merchandise, but that’s about it. In fact, some offerings have even DIMINISHED in recent years, like the cookie and beverage situation. If you compare the offerings from a few years ago (like pre-pandemic), there were more unique flavors of complimentary cookies to find around the park during the party, as well as more matching beverage options. Now, we’re mostly down to pretty basic cookie flavors, along with hot cocoa and apple cider.
After 2019, we also, unfortunately, lost the beloved Cinderella Castle Dream Lights during the holiday season — they’ve now been replaced with projections that are holiday-themed.
Are any of these complaints major? No! In fact, we had a wonderful time at the party this year. Disney stepped it up — the event was full of fun characters and entertainment, and despite the limited amount of time you have at the party, there’s time to knock out a lot of activities. But, again, tickets are more expensive now than they’ve ever been before. It’s a lot to consider — especially for a bigger family.
So there you have it — the main problem that’s plaguing the Christmas party these days. Stay tuned to DFB for more updates on this event!

My dream would be to see the dream lights again. The last time I went was 2017. It was so beautiful.

I remember a time back in the day when the Xmas party was in MGM backlot. Snow filled the air Xmas music hot chocolate Osborn lights light crowd. I think tickets were 30$ at that time. It was wonderful after a full day in the parks.

The first MVMCP I attended, 2018, the offerings were amazing. Chocolates, sno-cones, pretzels, and cookies. The beverages offered hot chocolate, egg nog, and apple cider. I miss the variety of the offerings. For the price point of this party I would like to have something, quite honestly, better than a Cheryl’s Cookie.

I with they would bring back the Dream lights. They were so magical, and the projections are a poor substitute.
