Disney just dropped some BIG news, and Disney fans already have a LOT to say about this announcement. OK, we won’t keep you in suspense any longer: it’s about the new Villains land coming to Magic Kingdom. Disney just dropped a few more details about that new expansion!
Disney blew our MINDS in August when the company announced that the ONE THING WE’VE ALWAYS WANTED TO SEE IN DISNEY WORLD is actually happening. That announcement was that a land themed around Disney’s villains would be coming to Magic Kingdom. We even later learned where that land would be in the park (behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad). IT’S REALLY HAPPENING!

Well, Disney is now busy dropping announcements at D23 Brazil, and the company revealed which villains will inspire that land. It’s not clear exactly HOW these characters may be featured, but it looks like Disney plans to use some of the biggest and baddest villains.

Let’s just take a look at this photo posted by @omelete. We see the Queen of Hearts, Jafar, the Evil Queen, Yzma, Cruella, Captain Hook, Maleficent, Gaston, Mother Gothel, Ursula, Hades, Chernabog, and Maleficent as a Dragon. WHOA!

Oh, and if that artwork looks familiar, it appears to be borrowed from Disney’s Lorcana trading card game.

However, Disney also dropped NEW details about this land, and y’all, it sounds DARK. According to Entertainment Weekly, the new land will be a place where villains have been summoned to converge in one place. Chairman of Disney Experiences Josh D’Amaro said, “In our story, a mysterious spell has been cast, summoning villains from every realm. In this land, heroes don’t come to save the day — and there may not be a happily ever after!”
Ooh…goosebumps!

I’m so excited for this!! I think out of all the new additions to WDW in the last 5-10 years, this has me the most pumped!
I also feel like MK is long overdue for a major expansion. Aside from a few ride additions like 7DMT, Tron and Tiana’s (which isn’t really new, just newly themed) there hasn’t been much going on. MK is the heart of WDW and definitely deserves to have a whole new land created for it.
Now just hoping it doesn’t take too long before we all get to enjoy it 🤞
