With less than two months in 2024, you can basically count down the days until your 2025 Disney World trip!
With such little time left for all the preparations, we wanted to offer a helping hand! If you’re still trying to figure out which Disney World you want to book a stay at in 2025, you’ll want to know about the ones that you’ll want to stay clear of. Let’s dive right in!
Without further ado, let’s get right into the list of Disney World hotels that you’ll want to avoid in 2025 and why!
Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort
Who doesn’t love hopping into their Disney World hotel pool (I know we do)? Speaking of pools, the Fantasia Pool over at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort will undergo routine maintenance from January 2025 to April 2025.
While the refurbishment is happening, you can still enjoy a day by the pool at the Donald Duck pool since it will still be open. If you are wanting to stay at a hotel where all the pools will open, you will want to stay clear of this hotel until May 2025.
Bay Lake Tower
Next, Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will be undergoing room refurbishment work from September 2024 to September 2025 (yes — a whole year!).
During the construction, you can expect to see and hear the construction work in Bay Lake Tower. Also, you might be instructed to take detours. Typically, Disney is really good about not doing any work early in the mornings or late in the evenings. Hoping to avoid construction at your hotel, then steer clear of The Contemporary next year.
Port Orleans — French Quarter
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter has been getting a facelift recently. The room refurbishments taking place at the French Quarter were originally scheduled to be completed by the end of November, but now the plans have changed. According to the Disney World website, the project is now expected to last through Spring 2025. (We’ll be keeping an eye on the refurbishment schedule and keep you posted!)
As of the moment, the room refurbishments have already been completed in some areas (Buildings 1 and 2), but if you’re planning on staying at this hotel over the next few months, just keep in mind that there’s no guarantee you’ll get an updated room (but you will likely be paying the same price as someone who is in a refurbished room).
Port Orleans — Riverside
Guest rooms in the Magnolia Bend area of the resort will be undergoing refurbishment from early April 2025 through January 2026.
You’ll likely hear and see construction during the daytime hours if you choose to stay at this hotel while the refurbishment is ongoing. Specific details about the new guest rooms have not been shared, but we’ll be checking them out when they’re done!
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Even though the Island Village Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows will be opening this December 2024, the construction around the resort won’t be stopping any time soon.
Disney stated that the construction will go on until 2026, as with the other properties undergoing construction, just plan on hearing construction noise during the day should you plan on staying there. So you can expect construction in the area for quite some time.
Wilderness Lodge
If you’re planning a stay at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort, there is a major refurbishment taking place on the exterior of the hotel.
Construction work began back on August 5th and will still continue for the foreseeable future (meaning you’ll see and hear construction work during the daytime hours). Work will be done on the Copper Creek Villas & Cabins from mid-May 2025 through September 2025. We’re not sure what kind of changes are in store for the refurbishment, but Disney said that all resort amenities will still be available.
Disney’s Yacht Club
Lastly, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort will also be undergoing room refurbishment work from January 2025 through May 2025. Disney hasn’t shared how extensive the work will be (we’ll keep you posted).
Additionally, the Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool (which are shared by both Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts) will undergo routine maintenance from January 2025 to June 2025. These pools are consistently some of the top pools at the Disney World resorts (many stay just for the pool). As before, expect to hear construction noises during the day. This pool really is the shining star of this hotel, so if you were planning to stay for this experience, you will likely want to stay somewhere else!
Now, if you still want to spend time at a pool, the Tidal, Admiral, and Dunes Cove leisure pools will still be open.
Disney’s Pop Century
Guest rooms at Pop Century will also be getting a facelift! From late March 2025 through mid-February 2026, work will be done around the resort on the rooms.
If you decide to stay here during the refurbishment timeline, you’ll likely see and/or hear the construction during the daytime, but all resort amenities will be available. If a bit of construction doesn’t bother you, then this might still be a good option in 2025.
Those are just a couple of closures in 2025 at Disney World that you should plan around. Until then, keep it right here at DFB for the latest Disney news!
