The holiday season is officially in full swing in Disney World. The decorations are up. The giant Christmas trees are here. We’ve been to both Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party AND Jollywood Nights.
It’s such a great time to visit Disney World. One of our favorite things about the holidays in Disney World, though, is seeing all the amazing gingerbread displays at the hotels. We’ve already seen the gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, as well as the gingerbread castle Disney’s Contemporary Resort, but now the display at Disney’s Beach Club Resort is up. So come with us as we check it out!
So the display at the Beach Club is a Carousel — but it has a theme. This year’s theme is Mickey’s Christmas Carol. Okay, this one is SO fun, y’all. Look at how huge it is. Now, don’t forget — this baby is EDIBLE (but it’s also art, so you can’t eat it).
You’ll find a list of the ingredients used in building the carousel, and WHOA, it’s a lot. Yes, even the list is edible. Disney chefs are AMAZING. Can you believe they’ve been doing this for 24 years?
The horses on this carousel are part of the story.
A closer look at one of the horses shows Scrooge McDuck as Ebeneezer Scrooge, surrounded by a cornucopia of holiday food and a candelabra — and so our story begins.
Look at this incredible level of detail Disney Chefs have added to this horse. Again, THIS IS ALL EDIBLE.
This horse represents the scene where Ebeneezer sees his own grave. Okay, things just got DARK.
You’ll find the Jacob Marley horse in front of the carousel. Spooky!
Did we mention that you could also get some special treats at a special pop-up shop near the display? You can! We picked up some adorable Gingerbread Macarons with Gingerbread Ganache. You can get a box of four for $10.99. In general, macarons are expensive, but this is a pretty good deal with four.
We love that these aren’t your typical round macarons, but they’re shaped like gingerbread men. However, you’ll need to like gingerbread flavors and macarons to appreciate these little guys. They’re light and flavorful with JUST the right amount of filling so that the flavor is well-balanced. These could make for a really good gift if you wanted to take some home (just note, macarons don’t have a long shelf life and can go stale quickly if not refrigerated or frozen).
We also picked up the Spiced Orange and Cranberry Bundt Cake for $5.79. First, this little cake is Insta-worthy. But it’s also DELICIOUS. It’s very moist and the spices and orange flavor really come through. Plus you get loads of cranberries adding to that flavor.
There’s granulated sugar sprinkled on top to add a little crunch, along with the frosting, which is slightly hardened. This is a treat that just tastes like the holidays.
So if you are visiting Disney World during the holidays, be sure to make time to visit the gingerbread displays at the hotels.
