It’s the holiday season, and there’s a lot to see in Disney World!
You can visit Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or Jollywood Nights if you’ve got the funds to check out a hard-ticketed event. Or you could do something free and enjoy the Christmas Tree Stroll at Disney Springs. But one of our favorite seasonal offerings is the gingerbread displays around the Disney Resorts!
We’ve already checked out the annual gingerbread house display at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and the gingerbread castle at the Contemporary, but now we’re heading over to Disney’s BoardWalk to see what they’ve got on display this year!
Each year, the BoardWalk puts up a gingerbread display inspired by…well, the BoardWalk! For the past few years, it has been a model of the BoardWalk Deli, and this year’s follows that model as well.
The gingerbread model is even made with a matching BoardWalk Deli sign and the iconic red awnings over the windows and doors. And speaking of windows…we spot some Disney pals hiding in them!
Mickey and Minnie are in the kitchen on the side, baking up some delicious-looking holiday treats. How cute!
Each window has a Disney character shadow in it, and the roof is dusted with powdered sugar to look like snow.
The details on this display are absolutely incredible. Just look at that clock!
There are a couple of Mickey wreaths spread throughout, and they’ve got tiny candy decor as well.
The display is a pretty large size, filling up the entire table. Unlike the gingerbread cottage at the Grand Floridian, this one is not actually the size of a small house.
And if you’re interested in some gingerbread sweets and treats, you should know that the snack counter is only open from 2PM-9:30PM daily. No cookies for breakfast this year!
Their menu here is fairly limited, compared to some of the other gingerbread spots. You can get the classic gingerbread shingle or loaf, peppermint bark, the Mickey Caramel Corn Cookie, a sugar cookie, or hot cocoa.
And during select dates and times, you can find a pastry chef in the BoardWalk lobby to answer your questions about the display! Today, Pastry Chef Monique Perez was there from 3:30-5PM.
Most of the gingerbread displays also offer a small selection of merchandise. At the BoardWalk, they had gingerbread display-inspired pins…
…as well as hot cocoa Christmas ornaments. How cute are these?
We’ve got more displays to enjoy in the coming days, so make sure to stay tuned to DFB for updates on all of them. It truly IS the most wonderful time of the year!
