Okay, so not EVERYTHING goes according to plan in Disney World.
We’ve seen everything from ride evacuations to extended ride closures to characters having funny “oops” moments. Sometimes we even see a few funny things happen while we’re riding rides and something goes wrong. We’ll also NEVER forget plant Donald (he’s something of a legend here at DFB now). But last night, Disney’s Hollywood Studios was having some ISSUES, and we just had to share.
DFB Reader Amanda shared a story with us about last night’s 9:30PM performance of Fantasmic! in Hollywood Studios. Now, we’ll let you know ahead of time that the dragon is fine — it did NOT catch fire (because, well, it happened with Disneyland’s version of the show). However, the dragon did not make its way back to the mountain in time at the end of the show, which changed the show a bit.
This impacted the rest of the show. The boat did not do its firework twirl sequence during the finale, the water kept going (both screens were up the entire time). According to Amanda, you could still see the dragon at stage left pretty much the whole time. Oops.
At the very end, though, Mickey came out a different way and did not go up to the center of the mountain like he usually does. He remained on stage left, and then ran off after “some imagination, huh?” Okay, so those not familiar with the show might not have caught all this, but if you know the show, that could’ve been pretty funny.
So yes, even with Disney’s nighttime entertainment, sometimes things don’t work the way they’re supposed to. However, Disney Cast Members are seasoned professionals and the show will continue to go on as long as its safe to do so. So they improvise.
Thanks to our readers for reaching out and telling us about these moments! Stay tuned to DFB for more.

My Husband and I were at Hollywood Studios last night to ride Rise of the Resistance.
It had a lot of issues! The area where you watch the Rey hologram wasn’t working. When you walk outside of that room to get on a “ship” was completely bypassed and we were taken through a hallway to get to the room with all the stormtroopers. Then during the ride, the lightsaber through the ceiling wasn’t working and one of the screens showing the battle in space was not working.
