Are you planning a trip to Disney World?
There’s a lot to think about. You’ll need to figure out a budget. Then, you’ll need to figure out where you want to stay and which park tickets you need. After that, you’ll have to figure out transportation. But you might not be thinking about something else: what to do on your first day in Disney World. Here’s the thing: if you get to Disney World EARLY in the day, you might just want to hit the parks ASAP, and we’ve got a Disney World rule that could make that a whole lot easier.
If you want to head STRAIGHT to the parks, do not skip go, do not visit the hotel first (especially if your room isn’t ready), and hit the ground running, you can take your luggage WITH you to the theme parks. Like, just grab that Uber at Orlando International Airport and book a ride directly to EPCOT (or whichever park you want to visit first).
But you might be like, “Um…what about that luggage? I am NOT hauling that around all day.” Well, YOU DON’T HAVE TO. That’s because you’ll find locker rentals near the front entrance of EVERY Disney park. You have a choice of two sizes: a small locker, which is 12″ x 10″ x 17″ and costs $10 per day, or a large (which is probably what you’ll want with luggage), which is 15.5″ x 13″ x 17″ and costs $12 per day. You’ll find exact locations on the My Disney Experience app (or you can ask a Cast Member). You’ll need to go to the touchscreen at each locker rental location to start if you’re paying with cash or a major credit card.
If you’d like to use your MagicBand or MagicBand+ or a gift card to pay, you can visit the store nearest the lockers for help, where a Cast Member can process the rental for you and give you a code to input into the self-service kiosk, which will provide you access to a locker.
Then you go to the locker you’ve been assigned, store your stuff, and GO! Just remember to go back to the locker at the end of your park day to retrieve your things. See how easy that is?
Note that you will also find locker rentals at Disney World’s water parks, which could come in handy if you qualify for the free water park ticket perk that goes into effect for Disney World hotel guests in 2025.

“Uber straight from the airport”
No thanks!!
$12 per backpack, carry-ons and suitcases won’t fit.
Also keep in mind the lockers are inside security, that luggage would need to be inspected first!

We have used lockers for a few different reasons. When it’s really warm during the day but very cool at night, we have stored jackets, hats, etc. When we were going to a ticketed event in the evening, we’ve used a locker to store costumes. We’ve also used them to store purchases since they discontinued resort delivery. We’ve even used them to store leftovers from our meals and snacks (that would keep and wouldn’t leak or spill, obviously), but usually only when we already had a locker anyway. The lockers can be very convenient, but we do wish that they would bring back resort package delivery.

We used a locker once and only once, approx 25 years ago (OMG! Was it really that long ago?) in EPCOT. It was a pretty windy day and promised to be a very chilly evening in December. My husband, our young son and I all wore windbreakers and I was well prepared with pullover shaker sweaters and knit or crocheted
hats and gloves for all of us in a backpack. The pack is lightweight ripstop nylon (I still have and love that pack), but I was not looking forward to dragging it around all day, in and out of attractions, on and off rides. I was thrilled to learn that day of the lockers. I rented one for our pack and was free as a bird all day. When we decided to sit and wait for the Candlelight Processional, I grabbed the pack from the locker. We whipped off our windbreakers, put on our sweaters, hats and gloves and replaced our WB’s. As the temperature dropped into the upper 30’s we sat warmly enjoying Lou Gosset, Jr. read the nativity story and the choir of Disney cast members singing carols. We topped off the program with cinnamon pecans and hot cocoa. What a glorious day!
