Okay, is it just us, or is almost ALL of Disney World under some kind of construction?
Okay, maybe not all, but there is a LOT in the works right now. The new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) villa at the Polynesian Village Resort is under construction, although it’s close to completion. Magic Kingdom is getting an expansion in Frontierland plus a whole new land. Animal Kingdom’s Dinoland, U.S.A. will soon start its journey to becoming a new land. Hollywood Studios is getting a Monsters, Inc. land. Over in EPCOT, Test Track is becoming a new version of itself. Well, now, a Disney World hotel is expanding — and we’ve got some details.
The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin could very well be one of favorite off-property hotels, although technically, it IS on property — it’s in the EPCOT area of Disney World. Now, we’re always telling you why we recommend looking into a stay there, and now we’ve got some big news about the hotel to share: the resort is expanding!
The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin just recently broke ground on this expansion, which will add an additional 120,000 square feet of event space to its current meeting and convention space. Joining the hotel for the groundbreaking ceremony were executives from Tishman Realty and MetLife, as well as Marriott International and Disney World. Oh, and a certain mouse was also on hand to help the Swan and Dolphin mark the occasion.
This will be the first major expansion to the resort’s meeting space since 2003. It will add a new two-story building to the hotel’s existing convention space and will use the resort’s original Michael Graves design as inspiration with lots of natural light, modern touches, water themes, and warm, wooden color schemes.
This will give the Swan and Dolphin a massive 469,000 square feet of meeting space total between its three hotels (the Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve). It’s part of a $275 million project that will also go towards meeting space and room upgrades. The new space is expected to be finished in 2026.

I am not surprised at the expansion of the Swan and dolphin hotel. The only reason I never stayed at the Swan dolphin before was because the perks that we had by staying on property being able to start your vacation from the airport and never touching the luggage until you got home plus having all transportation taken care of was the factor that made me stay on Disney property. But now since we have to make all plans of our own to get there to get Transportation it only makes sense to go to the Swan and dolphin because you can also get points for staying there plus you’re on Disney property close to Epcot, which is one of the key places to go if you want to find food. I also love AKP and might consider staying there one night in order to enjoy the evening amenities and meals .
