A lot of exciting things are happening in Disney World right now, and there are even more exciting things coming up soon.
Test Track is getting a re-theme. A new Zootopia show is coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, which is also getting a brand new land, Pueblo Esperanza. Magic Kingdom is getting two new Cars rides AND a new Villains land, and a villains-themed show is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. However, something else is coming to Hollywood Studios, too, and that means a land will have to close down to make way for construction. Now, we know when that will happen.
Muppets Courtyard will be closing in Hollywood Studios so work on a brand new Monsters, Inc. land can begin. The new Monsters, Inc. land will have at least one new ride based on the doors scene in the first Monsters, Inc. movie.
Disney also just announced that there will be a NEW theater show as part of this retheme, too! Plus dining and shopping as well. We can’t wait!
This means that Muppet*Vision 3D will also be closing to make way for this new land to be built at Hollywood Studios. But, FEAR NOT! The Muppets aren’t going anywhere! Okay, well, they’re moving — but we think you’re going to like where!
Disney announced that as part of this new overhaul, the Muppets will take over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and “team up with music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival.” Yep, that’s right — the Muppets are coming to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster! Disney hasn’t shared too many details, but we did get this awesome poster!
According to Disney, they are “having creative conversations and exploring ways to preserve the [Muppet*Vision 3D] film and other parts of the experience for fans to enjoy in the future.” Does this mean we might get Muppet*Vision on Disney+?! We can hope!
Disney has still yet to announce when these changes will begin or when the new Monsters Inc. land and Muppets version of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster might open, but we’ll let you know when that changes!
If you have plans to visit Hollywood Studios, you’ll have to prepare yourself for construction walls, so just make a note if you’ve got a trip coming up soon. Stay tuned to DFB for more.

This is the FINAL STRAW as far as I’m concerned. I’ve been going to WDW for 50 years and the Muppets are dear
To me. Muppets 3D was the last of Jim He son’s projects and it was great. I saw the Muppets I knew growing up (not the same as the show that appeared on ABC some years back). Disney thinks just putting them in Rockin Rollercoaster will PACIFY their fans, but they are WRONG!! At this point, I WISH Disney NEVER bought the Muppets (they haven’t done them justice). I will STOPPED going to WDW the day the Muppet Courtyard and show are DESTROYED and that’s coming from someone that’s even a stockholder of this company.
Luke says
I hate this leave the Muppets alone

Disney has lost their freaking minds. I gave them one more shot last year after 20+ trips over the years and that experience alone proved I no longer need to spend $10k of my hard earned money there. These recent decisions and “improvements” along with their atrocious film offerings and woke politics are a slap in the face to long time customers. I am DONE.
Robin L Murray says
I think they should leave RNR alone or update it to a real band. This is going to be horrible!!

For everyone who hoped that Monsters would be located in the nearly abandoned Animation Courtyard, I seems likely that the Monsters coaster building exceeds the square footage of that entire space and that’s not counting the rest of what will be constructed for Monsters.
I’m happy about Rock n’ Roller Coaster. Aerosmith needed replaced 20 years ago considering many guests have little or no knowledge of them.
For everyone blaming Disney for not respecting the Muppets, don’t blame Disney but blame the public. Despite what we all want to think (I grew up with and loved the Muppets), they no longer sell. Just take a look at the last several attempts at a series. They’ve all been quickly cancelled due to lack of viewership. Times and tastes change whether we like it or not.
For everyone who complains and screams every time there is change and threatens not to return, I wish you’d all just do it and be done with it already giving more space for the rest of us. There’s been a lot of questioning how Disney will respond to Epic Universe. Yet every time Disney announces something new, everyone becomes passionate about not removing something. Disney isn’t going to constantly expand the size of the parks. They are going to replace existing things. It’s common sense.

Stop closing Iconic attractions and expand new ones, adding park capacity

Love me the Muppets. The OG show was the best and yes Disney has not done them well. But I am looking forward to Monsters Inc.
One more picture of the key under the rug!

Who cares about the Muppets? Yes, I like them to an extent. I’m shocked that ArrowSmith won’t be part of the the Rock and Roller coaster. This is a big shock to me. You turned the ride from a really cool ride to a silly one.
Lucretia Kleinman says
Sorry, I spelled Aerosmith incorrectly!

I’m not one of the crowd who insists nothing change. But it should be a fair trade. We lost the car stunt show and the back lot tour and catastrophe canyon but we got Star Wars land.
But this time I lose the Muppets and get nothing in return. For medical reasons (and personal choice) I don’t do roller coasters.
So this is a mistake. Surely there is some space somewhere for the Muppets
Mary Guss says
I’m glad you’re saving the Muppets, but they were perfect as they were. I think it’s a crime to make that change.
Scoop says
Rediculous! Getting rid of original muppets for a new cheap version. The getting rid of rockin rollercoaster! They need more attractions not replacements. And who needs a monsters inc land. It’s poorly attended at MK! If you want to replace Rockin with IP, use Queen.. Disney owns that. Put monsters where it belongs! Wreplace the executive office with the new monsters ride!

It’s nice that some people can see the positive aspect of the Muppets taking over Rock’n’Roller Coaster, but it’s not actually great news for everyone. Muppet*Vision 3D is an attraction the whole family can enjoy together; the roller coaster isn’t. It has a height requirement, plus it’s not a good ride for people who suffer from motion sickness, heart conditions, back or neck pain just to name a few. So sure, the Muppets are sticking around but they’ll no longer be in an attraction that’s accessible to everyone like they are now. It’s not remotely the same and it’s not particularly good news, unless Disney is planning another family-friendly Muppet attraction they haven’t announced yet.
Beth says
I was afraid this was going to happen 😢
I’m excited for Monsters Inc land and excited for RR to get a retheme (even though I love Aerosmith, but I get that it’s time for something new) but one of my MGM OG faves is Muppetvision 3D! It’s a must do for me every time I visit HS.
I really hope they can find a new home for Muppetvision! I don’t care where they put it, I just need to be able to see it whenever I come to WDW

What makes Disney think elderly, handicapped, and very young children will or can go on a rollercoaster that they stuck the muppets on. There are few attractions at Hollywood Studios for these groups, especially the handicapped. So sad. Guess I’ll have to see the Muppets more than once on my next trips before they destroy this beloved attraction.
FlamingoKaren says
Rest of my first post. According to the CDC in 2023 the percent of adults age 18 and older with any difficulty walking or climbing steps: 18.6%. Too sad that WDW thinks almost 20% of the population should be ignored.
Holly G says
Come on, the younger generation(the one bring their kids) don’t hold the same knowledge of the Muppets as your older generation (that includes me). In Jim Henderson day it was the cutting edge. But the edge has moved let us look to the future and remember the past. Take photo look at them and have a smile. I cannot wait to hear the Muppet music on the RR. As for a new show with the Monsters that should be great. If this is so horrible to you than please cheat yourself out of all the new fun. This is coming from a DVC member, Stock holder, Increda pass holder, Disney Visa Card holder and Castaway Platinum member. This is one change that Disney is doing right. When they change the Great Movie Ride to the Runaway Train I was skeptical but is now one of my favorite rides. Want to complain about something try MK and new car ride. Cars needs to be at Hollywood there is a lot of land that could be used instead of the middle of MK and the quite paddle boat ride.
Stephanie Routh says
Maybe in 2025 during The Muppets 70th anniversary, how about a big Muppet Fest in Hollywood Studios. They will be Muppets themed merchandise treats, and a possible chance of meet and greets.
