Benvenuto! Welcome to the Tuscany Holiday Kitchen!
Tuscany Holiday Kitchen is one of the festive holiday Food Booths at the 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Holidays. We’re stopping by the Italy pavilion to check out the new (and returning) eats this year, and of course wash things down with an Italian Margarita as we bring you our full review, just like we’re doing with ALL of the Festival’s Holiday Kitchens!
Menu
The menu at Tuscany Holiday Kitchen features the returning Montanara and Dolce Pizza, while the Panettone is a new offering this year.
There’s always something fun to sip in Italy, and this Festival features a Bombardino Freddo (creamy eggnog and Italian brandy), wines including Prosecco, Moscato, and Chianti, your choice of red or white Italian Sangria, the beloved Italian Margarita with tequila and limoncello, and Peroni Pilsner for the beer drinkers.
And with that, we say “Buon Appetito!”
Eats
The Montanara returns this year for $9. This dish is a fried house-made pizza dough with pomodoro sauce, parmesan, and fresh basil. We found these to be very gummy, like they weren’t cooked well, and then soaked up all the marinara, which made them soggy. In this case, we do believe they had been sitting in this marinara and soaked it up well before it was in our hands. The marinara sauce also lacked flavor, and while there was a lot of parmesan, we really couldn’t taste a lot of it.
We’re especially interested to try the Panettone, which is new this year for $7. The bread was okay, but guess what? It was gummy, too! The orange slices in here also reminded us of fruit that had been dehydrated and then attempted to be revived again, and it was just unpleasant. The vanilla cream is honestly very tasty, but it wasn’t enough to save the dish.
The Dolce Pizza is back, too, for $7.50.
Here, the fried house-made pizza dough is coated with sugar and cinnamon. This is just boring, to be honest. The dough is chewy to the extent that it’s almost gummy (WHAT is with the Italy pavilion and being gummy?!), which was gross to us, and while the cinnamon and sugar combination was a good topping, the dough was not a good mix with it.
Drinks
Say “Saluti!” Beverages include the Bombardino Freddo, but this was marked as not available during our visit. This festive cocktail is a creamy eggnog with Italian brandy. Maybe it’ll be available in the near future!
The Italian Sangria is available in your choice of red or white for $12.
Both sangrias boast a lot of fruit flavor without being too sweet.
Now, it’s possible that, with Florida weather patterns, you may well hit up the Festival of the Holidays on a very warm day. There’s not much more refreshing, in that case than the Italian Margarita with tequila and limoncello!
This pleasantly tart cocktail costs $12. Wine drinkers can choose from Prosecco, Moscato, and Chianti, too.
Finally, the Peroni Pilsner — a staple in the Italy pavilion — is also available for $6.99 for a 6oz and $11 for a 12oz.
OVERALL
Overall, we’re sad to say that Italy continues its tradition of being one of the worst booths at the festival. We don’t know WHY this one struggles as much as it does, but we highly recommend skipping this one, no matter your taste palette. We’re still looking forward to the day that the Italy Pavilion finally redeems itself…but alas, we don’t know if that will ever happen.
Thanks for joining us at Tuscany Holiday Kitchen! And don’t forget that we’ve got LOTS more to check out at this most festive of all the EPCOT Festivals!
