PROST! It’s time to raise a glass of Glühwein and join us at the Bavaria Holiday Kitchen!
Tucked in the Germany pavilion, Bavaria Holiday Kitchen is one of several Holiday Kitchens (also known as Food Booths) at the 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Holidays. Before we take in even more Festival activities (like completing the Cookie Stroll, going to the Candlelight Processional, and listening to the Holiday Storytellers around the park, and more), we invite you to join us for our full review of Bavaria Holiday Kitchen!
Menu
In addition to the booth’s famous Glühwein, Bavaria Holiday Kitchen is also known as being home to the ever-popular Cheese Fondue in a bread bowl! The other food offerings here are the Pork Schnitzel and Linzer Cookie.
Joining the Glühwein on the Drinks menu are Possmann Pure Hard Cider, von Trapp Brewing’s Trösten Smoked Dark Lager, and Köstritzer Schwarzbier, which are also available in a Beer Flight. Regional Riesling is also up for grabs.
Get ready to raise a glass of Glühwein — or a bread bowl FULL OF CHEESE — as we dig in!
Eats
If you encounter a long line at the Bavaria Holiday Kitchen, it’s likely because this booth serves up Cheese Fondue in a bread bowl. Served with steamed baby vegetables and marble potatoes, this dish is $8.50. It’s BREAD. FILLED. WITH. MELTED. CHEESE. (Thank you, Santa!!) Even though you’ve likely already figured out why we’re so excited to see this on the menu each year, we’ll give you our full thoughts… Okay, so this is fun, but it’s also tasty. It is made with stronger cheeses, so you get a lot of flavor.
The bread is soft and doughy and the veggies are fresh and crunchy. We especially liked the potato and cucumber. Now add that to melty cheese and you’ve got a super pleasing snack.
The Pork Schnitzel also returns this year. The dish is plated with mushroom sauce, spätzle, and braised red cabbage and costs $6.75. Even though the Cheese Fondue gets its fair share of the spotlight here, we’ve often been impressed with how well-executed this dish is as well. It tastes very fresh and the mushroom sauce works so well with the crispy breading.
The red cabbage also added a nice balance of sweetness.
The Hazelnut Linzer Cookie for $3.25 has a sweet filling surrounded by a nice soft cookie. This cookie literally melts in the mouth. Although it IS sugary, it’s not TOO heavy. We’d call this the perfect sweet snack.
The Linzer is eligible for a stamp for those of you participating in the Cookie Stroll!
Drinks
If you’re visiting the Festival on a cool day (they do come to Florida from time to time), you might consider the festive Glühwein. This traditional spiced wine is served warm and costs $9.50, and we’ve grown to think of it as Christmas in a cup! It’s so cozy and tasty, with a predominant cinnamon flavor. This could be our new favorite holiday drink
The Beer Flight ($10.25) allows you to try the Possmann Pure Hard Cider (priced at 6 oz. for $5.75 or 12 oz. for $9.75), the von Trapp Brewing Trösten Smoked Dark Lager — yes, by THE von Trapps! (6 oz. for $5.75 or 12 oz. for $9.75), and the Köstritzer Schwarzbier (6 oz. for $5.75 pr 12 oz. for $9.75).
Wine drinkers might like to try the Regional Riesling for $6.75.
OVERALL
Everything at this booth is pure holiday magic. We loved all the food items, and the spiced wine was the perfect way to top the meal off. We didn’t go into this booth thinking we’d love everything, but well, here we are. This booth is a real winner and is great for adventurous eaters who want to try something unique, fun, and delicious.
