There are only a few sleeps left until 2025, which begs the question, “Are you coming to Disney World in 2025?”
As we all know there a whole lot of changes coming to Disney World this next year and they can seriously impact your 2025 vacation plans for one very big reason — the crowds! So let’s have a quick chat about some of the reasons why we think that the the Disney World crowds in 2025 could be much higher than before!
As we were saying, 2025 could be one of the busiest years we’ve seen in the Disney World parks in a while, and we don’t want you to get caught up in all that, so let’s break down three big reasons why we think 2025 will be quite the busy year at Disney World.
Epic Universe is Opening at Universal Orlando
First up, Universal Orlando’s Epic Universe is going to opens its gates on May 22nd, 2025, and it’s going to be a game-changer. This massive new park will draw crowds from around the globe, with it’s 5 sure to be jaw-dropping lands like Super Nintendo World. But here’s the kicker – many of those travelers won’t just stop with Universal.
When people hear about an exciting new park like Epic Universe, they often think, “Well, if we’re heading to Florida anyway, why not make it a big family vacation and hit Disney World too?” You know how it goes – might as well check off multiple theme park bucket list items in one trip. So even though Epic Universe is technically a Universal project, we’re betting Disney World will see a ripple effect in attendance.
Saying Goodbye to Fan-Favorite Rides
2025 is already shaping up to be an emotional rollercoaster (pun-intended) for Disney World fans. You’ve probably heard that some of its classic attractions are set to close their doors permanently, and you better believe people will be flocking to the parks to ride them one last time. Here’s what’s on the chopping block:
- DINOSAUR and It’s Tough To Be A Bug at Animal Kingdom
- Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island at Magic Kingdom
- Muppet*Vision 3D at Hollywood Studios
All of us Disney fans love our nostalgia, and the chance to experience these attractions one last time is likely going to draw some massive crowds. In addition to that, there are some major temporary closures happening too:
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (will be closed for over a year starting on January 6th, 2025)
- Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster (which is getting a Muppets re-theme)
So if you’ve been meaning to snap a selfie in front of DINOSAUR or catch the quirky Muppets 3D show, 2025 is your last chance. These “farewell tours” always bring in a wave of Disney die-hards!
New Attractions and Experiences
While we’re saying goodbye to some of our favorite classics, 2025 is also welcoming tons of new magic. Disney isn’t letting Epic Universe steal all the thunder. Here’s a taste of what’s coming:
- A new villains stage show in Hollywood Studios (Summer 2025).
- The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure (Hollywood Studios Summer 2025)
- Zootopia: Better Zoogether! (Animal Kingdom Winter 2025)
- Test Track 3.0 (EPCOT reopening in 2025)
- Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away, a brand-new nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom (Summer 2025)
- A Spaceship Earth-themed lounge in EPCOT (in 2025)
- A Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge in Magic Kingdom (in 2025)
- A new DVC lounge, McKim’s Mile House, opening at Magic Kingdom (Summer 2025)
What Does This Mean for Your Trip?
Well, if you’re planning a Disney World vacation in 2025, you’ll want to keep these factors in mind. Higher crowds mean booking all your reservations early, and mentally preparing for longer wait times. On the flip side, you’ll also potentially get to experience a mix of old and new, which could make your trip really unforgettable.
