The stage is set. The portals are in place. Univiersal’s Epic Universe theme park is about to open. We’re just a few short months away from the big opening day, which falls on May 22nd, 2025. Are you ready?
From the DRAGON-filled How To Train Your Dragon land to a NEW Harry Potter land, there will be SO MUCH to explore. Before the park opens, though, Universal has a few more things to do, like, say, hire some Team Members to help bring the park to life. Could this new audition notice give us a clue about what’s coming to Epic Universe? Let’s talk about it!
OK, before we dive in, we should give you a little background. Epic Universe will host five different themed lands, including Celestial Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, and Dark Universe. Each land will have its own rides, restaurants, and characters.
Now, let us turn our attention to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic. This NEW Harry Potter-inspired land will have a distinctly French style, with new dining and a new attraction inspired by the Ministry of Magic.
Based on the concept art, the land will be Parisian-inspired, with a touch of that classic Harry Potter magic. We even see a student from the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic (a French magic school) taking a photo with some visitors!
That brings us to the latest update. Over on the Villa Creative Auditions website, there is a new casting call for musicians. The notice explains that Villa Creative is “seeking talented and charismatic musicians for a brand new theme park show!” Now, the notice does not specify a theme park, but based on a few clues, we think this could be a casting call for Epic Universe. In fact, the Villa Creative agency has worked with Universal in the past!
There are a few noteworthy clues in this casting call. First, under the “Required Skillset” section of the casting call, one of the requirements is the “ability to speak with a passable French accent.” We know that the Ministry of Magic land is set in France, but could this just be a coincidence? Well, we dug a little deeper and noticed something else.
Interested musicians must submit an audition tape and choose from one of the following lines to showcase their ability to speak with a French accent. Here are the lines:
- “I once enchanted an exquisite [your instrument] to play like me, but it nearly fell in love with itself! A tragic tale, yes. But…such is the cost of perfection.”
- “Yes, my enchanted [your instrument] does turn its own pages. And it refuses to play anything but Debussy! What can I say? It has taste!”
- “We have a few songs that you might find…enchanting to the ear. Symphonies that seem supernatural. Arrangements that are…well, I can’t think of an ‘A’ word for that one, but the arrangements are quite good too!”
Hmm…there seems to be an emphasis on “enchanting” instruments and songs. Almost like the person reading the lines is…a wizard?
Even the timeline fits within Universal’s opening timeline! The preliminary round of online submissions ends on December 6th, 2024, and the final round of live auditions in Orlando happens on January 5th, 2025. Rehearsals are set to begin mid-January, which gives those selected plenty of time to prepare for Epic Universe’s opening date in May.
Now, this is all just speculation — the audition notice doesn’t even specify a theme park! But based on what we know about Epic Universe, it seems like an awfully big coincidence that an Orlando talent agency is looking for performers to play a magical French musician, right? In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest theme park news, so stay tuned for more.
