We talk a LOT about food in Disney World.
We talk about the best snacks, the best eats at the EPCOT festivals, and even some of our favorite entrees to order at table service spots. But you know what gets overlooked? Some of Disney World’s AMAZING appetizers. So today, we’re rounding up 7 of the top appetizers in Disney World to determine which one is the best.
Sanaa Bread Service
For the first item on this list, we’re heading to Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge — Kidani Village. This spot is home to some spectacular animal views and an iconic Indian-style Bread Service on the list of starters. It comes with naan and a variety of delicious dips and accompaniments.
If you’re a fan of good bread services, there are none that beat this version! If we went to a party and this was the entire spread, we’d be happy little clams…it’s THAT good. With so many different dips to choose from, you and your friends can rate them all.

Le Cellier Cheddar Cheese Soup
Perhaps the most iconic of the Disney World appetizers is the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup at Le Cellier Steakhouse in EPCOT. This Canadian steakhouse serves up some wonderfully comforting eats, but none quite come close to the creamy, cheesy goodness of this soup.
In fact, the soup is so good that it’s served annually as part of the International Food & Wine Festival as well. With those bacon bits and a little bit of bread on the side for dipping, this is the perfect meal to warm you up on a chilly day. We dream of this soup.

Boatwright’s Dining Hall Pimento Cheese Fritters
For our next appetizer, we’re actually heading over to one of Disney World’s moderate resorts — Port Orleans Riverside! This hotel is home to Boatwright’s Dining Hall, which is a real hidden gem with a few knockouts on the menu. One of our favorite items is the Pimento Cheese Fritters on the appetizer list.
These things are cheesy on the inside, soft, and nice and crispy on the outside from the frying. They’re served with a creamy sauce and they’ve got the perfect amount of heat. The only complaint we have? You only get three of them!

Tony’s Town Square Garlic Bread
A SHOCKING entry on our list comes from a restaurant that was broadly disliked until menu changes hit in the past few years. Tony’s Town Square Restaurant in Magic Kingdom added a spectacular garlic bread with parmesan fondue to its menu…and this stuff is to die for, y’all.
This dish single-handedly turned the tide for Tony’s and made it a recommendable spot once again. The bread is crispy and garlicky, but still soft in the middle, and served in a huge portion. You get a small pot of parmesan fondue on the side for pouring or dipping, and it takes things to another level with phenomenal cheesiness. I cannot sing the praises of this bread enough!

Wine Bar George Crispy Mac & Cheese Bites
It’s no secret that we love mac & cheese like most of the American population, but one Disney World spot does it particularly well. At Wine Bar George in Disney Springs, you can order Crispy Mac & Cheese Bites with your meal.
These are cheesy and pasta-filled on the inside and crispy on the outside with a lovely marinara-like dipping sauce. They’re so unique and fun that we recommend them to pretty much everyone who visits Wine Bar George!

The Boathouse Oysters on the Half-Shell
There aren’t many places in Disney World where you can go nuts for fresh seafood, but The Boathouse is one of those places! And as part of their starters, they offer Oysters on the Half-Shell. The menu is actually quite extensive, with several different oyster options from various regions.
You can order as many oysters as you’d like, and they come cold with some sauces, crackers, and other accompaniments. We love to mix and match to make different flavor combinations with them. This is definitely a fancier appetizer experience, but for the adventurous eater, it can be a lot of fun!

Homecomin’ Thigh High Chicken Biscuits
And last but not least, we’ve got to talk about one of our favorite restaurants in Disney World — Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’. This Disney Springs spot is known for its amazing fried chicken, and you can order that chicken as an appetizer on their Thigh High Chicken Biscuits.
These cheesy biscuits are topped with pieces of fried chicken, bread and butter pickles, and then drizzled with hot honey. YUM. Honestly, you might could even eat these as a full meal if you don’t want to share with others. (We totally wouldn’t blame you!)

So Who Wins?
Well, when it comes down to it, our team decided that though the vote was tough, we’d be giving the edge to Sanaa’s Bread Service! It’s just the ultimate version of bread at the table, and if it weren’t for this appetizer, the restaurant wouldn’t be nearly as popular as it is. (Some people go there JUST for this item.)
Nothing quite beats a delicious bread with a matching dip to kick off your meal. So the next time you head to Disney World, make sure to add this spot to your list!

We have tried the cheddar cheese soup at Le Cellier it is so good, but very filling. Last time my husband and I shared the soup. Have to save room for the great steaks. 😊
