Let’s take a little trip, shall we? We’re headed to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to preview the brand-new Disney Vacation Club Island Tower.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is home to a new Disney Vacation Club property called the Island Tower! According to Disney, this new addition “will immerse you in the captivating stories and unique cultures of the islands,” and while it’s been a little controversial, now we get to step inside for the first time and see for ourselves if it’s worth the price. We’ve checked out the grounds, the amenities, and the dining options, but now it’s time to explore one of the most important parts of the hotel — the rooms!
There are multiple types of rooms available at Island Tower:
- Duo Studios (sleeps two)
- Deluxe Studios (sleeps four)
- 1-Bedroom Villas (sleeps five)
- 2-Bedroom Villas (sleeps nine)
- 2-Bedroom Penthouse Villas (sleeps nine)
Duo Studio
Today, we are starting with a tour of the Duo Studio. The Duo Studio room sleeps two, so this is the smallest room you can stay in at the Island Tower.

The first thing that we noticed was that the room felt very luxe and relaxing. It felt like an escape from the hustle and bustle of the theme parks — it’s truly an upscale experience.
Here’s a look at the room — it’s pretty compact! The kitchen area is next to the sofa (which becomes a pull-down bed), and the bathroom is right on the other side of the wall with the cabinets and microwave.
Here’s what the bed looks like! We LOVE that Moana-inspired artwork above the headboard.
Here’s a peek inside the bathroom. We love that blue tile — it’s gorgeous!
Time for a trip to the balcony! Be warned — the sliding doors out to the balcony are incredibly hard to open.
Remember how we said these rooms are close to the water? Well, that creates sort of a windy atmosphere, which leads to a vacuum effect when you try to open and close the sliding door. Overall, this is a serene, comfortable room that is great for couples!
Deluxe Studios
Next, we took a peek inside a Deluxe Studio room, which can sleep up to four people.
This room has a pull-down bed like the Duo Studio, with the addition of a second bed next to the balcony area.
There is plenty of space to sit, watch TV, and organize your items. We love all that counter space!
OK, now let’s talk about the bathroom; this one is a little different. The layout of the bathroom is one big room, and the toilet is separated by a privacy door.
In most other larger Deluxe Disney World hotels, the toilet is separated by a full door.
The shower is HUGE! It’s got a rainfall shower head and a bench, which are great little thoughtful details.
This room is great for small families! The subtle Moana inspiration is evident throughout the room, and everything in the space feels thoughtful and intentional.
1-Bedroom Villas
The one-bedroom villa sleeps up to five people. This room has a ton of space, and it’s perfect for larger families.
2-Bedroom Villas
The two-bedroom villa is HUGE! This room sleeps up to nine people, so you can bring your whole friend group or family to Disney World! This room is incredible — there is plenty of space to spread out.

There is one thing that is VERY important to note, though. Not all views are created equal! This hotel is SUPER close to the Seven Seas Lagoon, but not all rooms will have the perfect “money shot” view. In fact, we noticed that some of the views also look out to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, which is a little bit immersion-breaking with the tropical theme of the resort. We preferred the rooms that look out directly to Seven Seas Lagoon.
