It’s no secret that the holiday season is a very busy time in Disney World.
Lightning Lane at Expedition Everest
That’s especially true now that we’re getting closer to New Year’s Eve. In fact, we’ve already seen park pass reservations sell out at three of Disney World’s parks. We also expected to see Lightning Lane Multi Pass to sell out, at least for the more popular parks (like Magic Kingdom, for example), but today…Lightning Lane Multi Pass sold out for Disney World’s least popular park — and y’all, this was not on our 2024 bingo card.
We’ll give you a rundown of Lightning Lane Multi Pass if you’re not familiar with it. Basically, this is an additional service you pay for that gives you access to skip the standby lines at rides and go through a shorter Lightning Lane, which can save a lot of time. As you can imagine, Multi Pass is very popular in parks with a lot of popular rides, including Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom. However, it’s not so popular in Animal Kingdom…at least until now.

This time of year, we often see Lightning Lane Multi Pass sell out for the more popular parks, but today, well, today, Lightning Lane Multi Pass is sold out for Animal Kingdom! And what’s even weirder is that it’s still available for Disney World’s other three parks. It is pretty rare to see this skip-the-line pass sell out at Animal Kingdom, so let’s just say we’re kinda scratching our heads right now.

Now, maybe there’s a reason for this. Maybe these folks who’ve bought it have the park hopping option added to their ticket and are planning on hopping over to ANOTHER park later. See, you can buy Lightning Lane Multi Pass in Animal Kingdom (which is the park where it’s generally the cheapest) and then hop over to another park and continue to use it, even if the price for Multi Pass is higher for that park (and you don’t get charged the difference).

Perhaps it’s that everyone who’s visiting this week is still trying to get a ride on Dinosaur before it goes away forever to make way for Animal Kingdom’s new land, Pueblo Esperanza. Or maybe Animal Kingdom is suddenly really popular right now because people are finally figuring out how awesome it is (and, hey, it’s AJ’s favorite park, so we get it).
In the meantime, Animal Kingdom may be your only choice if you don’t have a date-based ticket on New Year’s Eve (for example, if you’re an Annual Passholder) — that’s because Disney World’s other three parks are out of park pass reservations for that date.

Whatever the case, you can no longer buy Lightning Lane Multi Pass for Animal Kingdom today, so you’ve been warned.

I was here today. I think it’s something to do with the VERY long breakdown of Expedition Everest, it was broken all morning and the staff were even telling guests it would be hours…it would make sense for Disney to stop selling the LL.
