It’s about to get WICKED in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
This summer, a brand new VILLAINS show called Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After is coming to Hollywood Studios and it’s going to bring some of our favorite Disney baddies to the stage. Disney hasn’t revealed a LOT about the show yet, but we now have proof it’s one step closer to opening: Disney just filed the first permit for the show for general construction.
The Notice of Commencement permit was filed on January 8th for a location designated as 854 Sunset Boulevard, which is the location of Sunset Showcase, the previous home of Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, which is now closed to make way for the new Villains show. The permit is for “general construction” by InterAmerica Stage, a company who has worked with Disney before.
Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After will take guests into the “mysterious, reflective realm of the Magic Mirror.”
Disney has teased that the show will feature appearances by some of its most iconic villains, including Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent with each “breaking the glass” to come to the stage to perform. It looks like this permit could be for the construction of that stage. We’ve also previously seen a Casting Notice for the show for those three specific villains.
We don’t yet have an exact opening date for Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After, but the opening timeline is summer 2025. However, the permit suggests that construction has started for the show and perhaps we’ll have an idea of exactly when it’s opening soon.
Disney also recently announced that a Villains-themed land would be coming to Magic Kingdom, so everything in Disney World is about to become just a bit more villainous — and we’re here for it.
