Moonlight Magic is back for 2025 for Disney Vacation Club members!

This FREE DVC perk is an after-hours event with low crowd levels, entertainment, free snacks, and meet-and-greets with rare Disney characters. Recently, Disney revealed the dates for the 2025 Moonlight Magic events, and something caught interesting caught our eye!
Disney will host Moonlight Magic Events at four theme parks and one water park this year. DVC members will be able to enjoy after-hour events at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, Disney California Adventure, and Typhoon Lagoon.

What’s interesting is that dates for these events at Typhoon Lagoon have been announced, but Typhoon Lagoon is currently CLOSED while Blizzard Beach is open through the winter months. It’s expected that Typhoon Lagoon will reopen for the spring and summer, but Disney hasn’t announced a specific reopening date. Is it possible that we now know a rough estimate of when the water park will open thanks to the dates for Moonlight Magic?

Moonlight Magic events will happen at Typhoon Lagoon on May 20th, June 9th, and August 11th, 2025. That means that the water park will have been reopened at least by May 20th!

Last year, Typhoon Lagoon reopened on March 17th. However, no times are currently available for the water park on the Disney World website, including May 20th (the listed date of the Moonlight Magic event). We expect Disney to eventually list dates on the website, and it’s likely we’ll see them showing up for dates before May 20th.

We’ll be watching for more concrete updates on the reopening date of Typhoon Lagoon. In the meantime, you can visit Disney’s Blizzard Beach while Typhoon Lagoon is closed. If you stay at a Disney World hotel in 2025, you can visit the water park that’s open on the date of your check-in for FREE. For now, the water park you can visit is Blizzard Beach, but when Typhoon Lagoon reopens, it’s likely Blizzard Beach will close.

I wish Disney would flip flop when Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach are open. For us as northerners, escaping the snow in the winter, the last thing I want to see is snow in FL even if it’s fake snow with cute hidden mickeys and Olaf. Please Disney- open Typhoon Lagoon March 1st when I’m there! I’m begging you!!! -From NY
