We recently got to preview Universal Orlando’s brand NEW Stella Nova Resort, which is located near Epic Universe, Universal’s NEW theme park that will be opening this summer — VERY exciting, y’all!
Now we got a bit of a sneak peek at the bar, which has the same galaxy, space-ish theme that has also inspired the Resort (and it’s really cool). That includes our first look at Nova Bar. Well, now, we’re visiting Nova Bar FOR REAL and trying out some fun space-themed cocktails — and we’re bringing you along with us, so let’s go!
Atmosphere
You’ll find Nova Bar in the lobby of Stella Nova Resort, which means you won’t have to go too far if you’re looking for it.
The bar gives off the same space vibes as the hotel, but it’s also got a sort of lounge feel with seating at both the bar and on some super cool-looking couches.
Okay, we’ve talked about how cool the bar looks, but now it’s time to talk about the most important thing…the DRINKS.
Menu
You’ll find a variety of classic cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks at Nova Bar, but it also has some unique space-themed cocktails, too, like the Super Nova and The Nebula.
You’ll also find a good selection of other liquors to indulge in, like vodka, gin, rum, whiskey, and more.
You’ll even find a good selection of beer and wine.
You can even order a variety of non-alcoholic beverages, too, including a few special mocktails.
We had to check out one of these cool-sounding cocktails for ourselves, so let’s get to the review.
Drinks
First, we tried The Super Nova for $17.04 (including tax) which is made with whiskey and cherry-infused Campari and served smoked over a large ice cube. Okay, we’re already giving this drink an A because we got to see it being made in front of us. It starts with a little smoke cap on it, then they set it on fire and let that smoke the drink.
Then the drink is served to you.
We’re already impressed with the craftsmanship of the bartenders here. But the drink is also delicious. It was sort of like a Manhattan crossed with an Aperol Spritz with a cherry flavor, but you could also taste the whiskey. The cherry adds a nice sweetness, BUT...that first sip made us think of that cherry medicine we used to have as a kid. At that point, this drink was a NOPE.
The Campari, though did cut into that, but the more we sipped on it, the more it grew on us as the flavors started to meld together. In the end, we enjoyed it, which surprised us. Also, the ice cube inside the drink was so CLEAR.
The coolest thing, though, is the smoke. Overall, it’s a unique drink you might want to try just because.
Overall
We loved this bar because the theming from the bar and lobby itself just gives it such a cool vibe. The service was amazing and the bartenders were super sociable and chill, although the bar was pretty busy. It’s also something that we don’t really see at Disney: the hotel itself is around the same price as Disney’s All-Star Resorts but there’s this super luxe bar where we can get a smoked cocktail. That’s way more impressive than you would expect from a value hotel like this.
We’ll be visiting ALL the dining and drinking spots at Universal Stella Nova Resort, so stay tuned to DFB for more reviews.
