In case you didn’t know, today is National Plan for Vacation Day. What better way to celebrate the occasion than planning a Disney World or Disneyland vacation? May as well plan one of each to really celebrate the day!
Here at DFB, we have loads of resources, including our information-packed guidebooks, a plethora of blog posts covering every topic imaginable, and a huge library of DFB Guide videos to help you win Disney.
However, we aren’t the only resource available to help plan your Disney vacation! Disney is also celebrating National Plan for Vacation Day, and they are highlighting some of their resources, as well as deals and events to look forward to in 2025.
Not only that, but we got the opportunity to speak with Genevieve Shaw Brown, who is a travel expert with more than two decades in the travel industry. She is an author and award-winning journalist. She shared some of her top tips with us, and we are sharing them all with you!
Genevieve is a master of all things travel and also a huge Disney fan. She had a few tips for planning your Disney World vacation that we wanted to share. One of the biggest mistakes she thinks people make when planning a Disney vacation is overplanning and trying to do too much.
She recommends rethinking how you vacation, “what you think a perfect vacation is may not be what you actually think it is.” While it might be easy to get wrapped up in snapping the perfect photo or getting the best dining reservations, a Disney vacation is “really about connecting with the people you love.”
You want to make sure that those you are traveling with are getting their needs met and that you can connect with them. Genevieve said that when her family heads to Disney, they each get to choose two things that she calls their non-negotiables. Those things are made a priority during the trip to make sure everyone is getting what they want out of the trip.
Always make sure you are planning your budget for your trip. There are lots of options for all sorts of budgets at Disney. Genevieve stressed that it is so important to consider what will make the vacation most memorable for your group. If dining at certain restaurants will make the vacation the most memorable, do that and be more budget-conscious in other areas. The same goes for if a certain hotel is a high priority or you really want to ride certain attractions.
Also, make sure you are taking advantage of every single deal or discount you can find! Begin the planning process early so you can research the best deals. Disney is also running a variety of deals for Disneyland, Disney World, and Disney Cruise Line
At Disneyland, you can get $50 kids’ tickets and take advantage of SoCal resident offers, as well as hotel offers. At Disney World, you can take advantage of the new water park perk or get a free dining plan with the purchase of a vacation package. There are also special offers for tickets for Florida residents.
It is going to be an exciting year at the Disney parks with LOTS to look forward to. Disney Starlight, a new nighttime parade, will be coming to Magic Kingdom this summer, and Villains: Unfairly Ever After will also be debuting in the summer of 2025. Two new lounges will also be opening this year, a Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge and a Spaceship Earth Lounge. As well Test Track will be reopening in EPCOT, “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” will be debuting in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and ” Zootopia: Better Zoogether” will also be opening in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Over at Disneyland Resort, there is a multitude of events, including the Lunar New Year, Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival, Season of the Force at Disneyland Park, and Disneyland Resort’s 70th Celebration.
Also, two new cruise ships will be joining the Disney Cruise Line fleet at the end of the year: Disney Destiny and Disney Adventure.
