Disney World is about to start looking even more chaotic than it normally does — and it’s because of one major problem.
But, Hollywood Studios might be faced with the worst of it, and if you’ve got an upcoming trip planned to this Disney World park, you might want to be prepared for your plans to unravel. Several changes are in the works at Hollywood Studios and if you’re not careful, it might impact your upcoming visit!
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is about to see some MAJOR changes and if you’ve got an upcoming trip planned, we’re sharing everything you need to know!
Muppets to Monsters
Disney has officially announced that the Monsters, Inc. Land will be located on the south side of Grand Avenue at Disney’s Hollywood Studios — also known as Muppets Courtyard. As you might have guessed, with this change, we’ll have to say goodbye to Muppet*Vision 3D, PizzeRizzo, Mama Melrose’s, and the bathrooms in this area.
We recently learned that May 10th is the final day to dine at Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, while June 7th will be the last day we will ever have joy in our hearts again — because that is the final day of operation for Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo. As of June 8th, expect to see construction walls up blocking the entire area.
But, we are pretty excited about the arrival of the new Monsters, Inc.-themed land. While we don’t have an official opening timeline, we do know that the story of the land will pick up after the events of the popular Pixar film, and humans have now been invited to visit the world of Monsters, Inc. Disney shares that here, “you’ll be able to stroll the streets alongside some of your favorite monsters” and even visit the Laugh Factory!
Not only that, but the new Monsters, Inc. land will feature Disney’s VERY FIRST suspended coaster, which “will put you right in the middle of the monster action. Just be sure to fill out your paperwork! Roz is always watching…”
In addition to this brand-new coaster, Disney recently announced that Monsters, Inc. land will also have a new theater show.
Musicians to Muppets (Who are also musicians)
Don’t worry, though, this isn’t the end of The Muppets in Hollywood Studios. In fact, The Muppets will be moving to Sunset Boulevard and taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster! The Muppets will be the star of the show on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and will be teaming up with some of “music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival.”
As far as a closing date for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster goes — that we’re not so sure about. Disney has assured us that we will have a while, and since they haven’t announced the date yet we’re assuming it will be later than the June 7th closures at Muppets Courtyard.
Mermaids to… More Mermaids
“The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” is a reimagining of the previous “Voyage of the Little Mermaid” show that took place in Animation Courtyard. This show will bring a live-action re-telling of this classic tale back to Hollywood Studios. The show was originally supposed to debut in the fall of 2024, but Disney pushed its opening back to the summer of 2025 instead.
Disney still hasn’t announced an official opening date for the new show, but hopefully, we’ll hear some news soon! It will be a “fully reimagined theatrical production inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic.”
Cars to Villains (Sorry, I couldn’t think of fun alliteration for this one)
A brand-new Villains show is coming to Hollywood Studios! This new show will be replacing Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy in the Sunset Showcase building along Sunset Boulevard.
Disney’s newest villain attraction, Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After, will premiere in the summer of 2025. Captain Hook, Maleficent, Cruella De Vil, and other “fiendish foes ” will break through the glass and transform the stage into the “mysterious, reflective realm of the Magic Mirror.” We don’t have an official opening date yet, but we’ll let you know as soon as we do!

For alliterative purposes “Cars to Cads”
[Redacted] I was coming here to say Cars to Cads, too.

Not sad at all about Mama Melrose. Haven’t eaten there in years. Crappy, oversalted food. Makes Olive Garden seem like a Michelin star Italian restaurant.
