What’s in a name?
New snack options are ALWAYS coming to Disney World, and we’re always eager to try them! Now we’re headed to Disney Springs to try one of the newest cones at Swirls on the Water in Disney Springs.
We recently grabbed the new Dark Chocolate Cone. This $6.49 treat is made up of DOLE Whip Raspberry swirled with DOLE Whip Lime, covered in raspberry crispies, all inside a dark chocolate waffle cone. So what did we think? Well, that’s…a little complicated.
So, let’s start with the obvious. The swirl of lime and the raspberry DOLE Whip is the dominant flavor here, especially the raspberry since it’s accentuated by the raspberry crispies. We very much enjoyed said crispies, as they gave a sugary candy texture paired with the creamy DOLE whip. The lime is still present though, adding a tart taste that paired really well with the sweetness of the raspberry.
In fact, we’d go as far as to say we really enjoyed everything in the cone. So where’s the complicated part? Well…
For an item called the Dark Chocolate Cone, there’s very little dark chocolate flavor here. The waffle cone didn’t taste like dark chocolate at all to us. Instead of featuring the rich flavor commonly associated with dark chocolate, it reminded us more of a light version of Cocoa Puffs cereal. So, while we overall enjoyed the treat, anyone looking for something dark chocolate-heavy is likely to be disappointed, especially given the name.
The Dark Chocolate Cone can be found at Swirls on the Water, which features a “full menu of DOLE Whip items—including cool floats, “soft-surfed” cups and dessert nachos” as well as the “ultimate sweet treat” the DOLE Whip flight, which features “a trio of delicious flavors to savor.”
Disney World’s new Dark Chocolate Cone is likely a winner for those who enjoy mixing their DOLE Whip flavors between tart and sweet, but – – despite the name – – not for those looking for a dark chocolate fix. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World snack reviews!
