Sometimes, theme parks in Disney World close early, whether that’s for special events like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or for other reasons that haven’t been specified by Disney.
Well, today is one of those days in Magic Kingdom, where the park will be closing at 4:30 PM. Now, we usually tell folks to avoid parks on days they close early (because you’ll have to leave early), but we’re seriously thinking about changing our mind on that advice, considering the lack of crowds we’re seeing today at the park. So let’s take a look!
When we arrived in Magic Kingdom this morning, the entrance was pretty quiet and there was a sign notifying visitors that the park would close at 4:30 PM today.
We didn’t even have to wait in line to get into the park this morning — it’s so nice and quiet.
Now, Main Street, U.S.A. was a little more crowded, but not like it usually is so early in the morning. Again, we can tell this is going to be a very chill day in Magic Kingdom.
We also noticed that ride wait times are shorter than we usually see this time of day. Jungle Cruise was posted at 35 minutes, which is UNHEARD OF. We only really waited a little over 20 minutes, though. The current standby time is only 20 minutes.
Over in Tomorrowland, things were very relaxed, too.
Tomorrowland Speedway is pretty much a walk-on, right now.
We popped on over to Fantasyland to visit Storybook Circus to check out crowds there, too. Yep, it’s SO chill, too.
The big bottleneck area in Fantasyland is STILL a bottleneck, but we’ve seen it WAY WORSE.
Over in Liberty Square, we were pretty shocked to see that the wait time for Haunted Mansion was just 10 minutes!
Now, we won’t say that people completely skipped out on Magic Kingdom today — there are still people here, but we are seeing some low ride wait times, which is always nice. Normally we’d say you shouldn’t visit Magic Kingdom on a day it closes early, and that might still be the case unless you have the park hopper option added to your ticket and can use that to go to another park when Magic Kingdom closes.

We were there yesterday afternoon and waited in line for the Haunted Mansion for 15 minutes. It was so uncrowded
We were there. It was wonderful. I circled the date as soon as I saw your post in December. Thanks for the heads up.
Disney should give some type of discount or compensation when they just randomly close early! Especially when your type of ticket requires a reservation.
We were there that Thursday and roped dropped as a non- Disney property person. The only issue was jungle cruise and pirates were down at opening. Had to start at mansion but after the two rides were walk one still. Able to get mine train and tron in less than 30 too. Great day to be there
