Some construction walls have FINALLY come down in Disney World!
Disney’s Pop Century Resort
Disney World is undergoing a lot of changes, like Big Thunder Mountain’s lengthy refurbishment, the Muppets are leaving their courtyard, and Animal Kingdom is in the early stages of a BIG makeover! But we’ve got some good news about the construction walls in Disney World — one major hotel change is finally complete, and we’re checking it out today.
There are over 30 hotels on Disney World property, from Value Resorts to Deluxe Resorts. They all have things we love about them, and one of the things we love best about some Disney World resorts is the over-the-top theming! One of the resorts with decorations we love is Disney’s Pop Century Resort.
Disney’s Pop Century Resort
This is one of Disney’s Skyliner resorts, and it’s recently undergone a BIG transformation in the shopping and dining area of the resort. The massive Everything Pop Shopping and Dining construction project began in July 2024 and has slowly opened in phases with a new look. For a LONG time, the resort gift shop and food court were covered with construction walls.

Most of the walls came down in November 2024, but it seems like they’re finally gone! We checked out the completed shopping and dining area, and we were impressed. The shopping area is complete, with new bright colors and tons of open space for your next souvenir purchase.

An overall look
One of our favorite details is the Mickey-shaped windows! The circular windows were such a fun nod to Mickey within the theme of the resort — the design takes you from the fads of the 1950s to the 1990s.

You can also spot new retro signage between the shopping area and the dining area. This is such a cute spot for a photo-op!

The Disney World website notes that the refurbishment is scheduled to continue through April 2025, but a Cast Member let us know that the construction was pretty much complete. We did spot one more food window that is still behind construction walls.

This bright, colorful design with lots of bold and graphic patterns is not entirely new for this resort! Here’s a look at the previous seating before the refurbishment. The color palette was totally refreshed, though!

This dining spot is home to one of our favorite desserts in Disney World, the tie-dye cheesecake! You can also find more general fare at this food court, such as burgers, waffles, pasta, and more.

For the last 5 years the Pop have been THE hotel for my Disney’s Christmas Vacations
Looks very garish, but appropriate for that resort. Much better than the older, pretty bland appearance they had!
We have not only stayed at Pop Century before, but will be staying there again this summer. Looking forward to seeing the new remodel.
We really enjoy the convenience of the Skyliner. We like it so much that we passed on the free dining plan to stay in a preferred room at Pop. Disney was not offering the free dining for Pop, probably because they know how popular the Skyliner is and don’t need to attract customers to that resort. We also view the Skyliner as one of our favorite rides!!
I’m sure the price tag skyrocketed with all the improvements. If this is so, then Disney is now really working on pushing out the people who can barely afford to go WDW by “updating” the somewhat affordable hotels. Really down on Disney right now!
Our family from omaha neb has stayed over 6 times since they were little. We miss the place and would love to see the new updates. May have to take just the wife!!! Miss you mickey mouse!!
