Disney just dropped some BIG updates, but some major things were missing!
On March 20th, 2025, Disney held its Shareholder Meeting and gave some updates on a few different areas of the company. But what about the things they didn’t talk about? What important news was MISSING from Disney’s latest drop and what could it tell us about the future of the parks? Let’s find out!
Despite announcing a sequel to the hit film “Coco” and sharing a first look at the “Lion King” ride coming to Disneyland Paris, a few things were missing from the latest shareholder announcements!
Since Disney CEO Bob Iger returned to the company in 2022, he knew he had some incredibly important tasks to check off his To-Do List. But, there’s one task that might prove to be the most integral to the future of Disney — choosing a successor to replace him once his contract expires. Though his contract has already been extended once since his return, it’s set to expire in 2026.
We were anticipating some sort of rumblings about Disney’s search for a CEO successor, but unfortunately, there wasn’t a peep this time around.
And, in case you missed it, there are quite a few expansions in the works for Disney parks both domestically and internationally. Disney is planning a HUGE expansion for Magic Kingdom, the biggest it’s ever done for that particular park. For the expansion, Imagineers are looking to tell stories “beyond Big Thunder Mountain” in addition to the Cars area retheme.
Over in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Dinoland, U.S.A. will be going away to be replaced by something else. At first, Disney mentioned that the new land could be themed around Moana or Zootopia (maybe something similar to the new Zootopia land at Shanghai Disney Resort). However, more recently, we learned that Disney is leaning more towards theming the area to Encanto and Indiana Jones.
At Disneyland, an Avatar Experience is coming along with a new “Coco” ride, and the Avengers Campus is getting new attractions as well. Even the international parks are getting some love! And, while these expansions were mentioned during the shareholder meeting — we didn’t get any news or updates.
Finally, we were hoping we’d maybe get a trailer for “Zootopia 2” coming to theaters later this year, but we didn’t get that either. Instead, we got an updated look at the live-action “Lilo & Stitch” hitting theaters soon.
That’s a peek at some of the things Disney failed to discuss during their latest Shareholder Meeting, which leaves us with even more questions about what the future could look like. What projects might be canceled or changed down the line? Only time will tell, but we’ll be sure to watch for any news and keep you updated!

Iger noted he recently visited WDW. Did he notice that much of the parks are in poor condition, that rides frequently breakdown, that even when rides are working some features are not? Did he notice that WDW property, especially in the parks, is no longer clean and well maintained? Did he notice his CMs standing around, talking to each other or on their phones? Disney used to be a premier product. Sadly no more. The beancounters are only interested in optimizing incremental revenue. Where’s Walt when you need him?
