2 NEW Permits Hint at Big Change for ‘Zootopia’ Attraction in Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Disney has filed two new permits for Zootopia: Better Zoogether in Animal Kingdom.

The permits request the installation of new set designs and electrical work for the show that is expected to open in Winter 2025 in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The ride is replacing the recently closed It’s Tough To Be A Bug attraction.

Disney is already making progress on the brand-new Zootopia attraction coming to Animal Kingdom this year! The new show will be called Zootopia: Better Zoogether and will be hosted by Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde from the film.

The show will follow the characters as they take us through the different biomes that are seen throughout the film! The show was confirmed at D23 last year and the first major step towards bringing the attraction to life was losing It’s Tough To Be A Bug.

It’s Tough to be a Bug!

The attraction closed permanently on March 17th, 2025, signaling the closure of another opening day attraction for Animal Kingdom. Disney wasted no time though! Construction walls were up the day after it closed with the signage for the show removed and the park map updated.

It’s GONE!

While we are sad to see such a long-standing attraction close, we are excited that Disney seems to be moving so quickly on Better Zoogether! Disney filed the notice of commencement with the State of Florida for electrical work and set installments on March 19th, 2025. The show is expected to open later this year and we’re keeping our fingers crossed it does.

So while Flik might not even be cold in the grave, Nick and Judy are packing their bags to move right in. Disney has previously shared a little behind-the-scenes for the new show including the news that Gennifer Goodwin is returning to voice Judy Hopps!

We can’t wait to see the rest of this show come to life later this year. Animal Kingdom is going through a major transformation right now thanks to this new addition and the progress on Pueblo Esperanza which is set to replace DinoLand U.S.A.
