Calling all Disney Cruise Line fans! We have an exciting update to share.
The Oriental Land Company has officially released a statement about their upcoming partnership with Disney Cruise Line — including the first Disney cruise ship coming to Japan! Let’s jump in.
With the recent launch of the Disney Adventure in Singapore, Disney Cruise Line has been on everyone’s minds.
However, this is not the only upcoming overseas expansion we can expect from DCL. In 2024, Disney announced a partnership with the Oriental Land Company to create a new ship with sailings in Japan!
When the initial announcement was made, it looked like sailings could be expected around 2029 and that this ship would be in the Triton-Class as a sister ship to the Disney Wish. However, as of March 24th, the Oriental Land Company has made a release outlining the official creation of the cruise portion of their company called the ORIENTAL LAND CRUISE CO., LTD.
Currently, the Oriental Land Company owns and operates the Tokyo Disney Resort. And most recently, they created the beloved new Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea. This new ship is the next step in an already fruitful partnership that has existed for over 40 years!
We already know that this new ship will have all of the theming and immersion to be expected from the Oriental Land Company. Despite the release being fairly limited, it does give us a few more details about the timing of this new venture. While we initially were expecting this new ship sometime in 2029, the release notes that “the Company is working to launch Disney cruise services in the Japanese fiscal year 2028.”
It also notes that the tentative date of establishment for this new subsidiary will be April 3rd and that construction is set to begin in the second half of 2026! It also confirms that the new ship will be based on the existing Disney Wish and that this new venture “will introduce a new type of experience, family entertainment cruises, to the Japanese cruise market.”
We are so excited to see what this brand-new ship has to offer! Make sure to follow along with Disney Food Blog to stay informed of all the Disney Cruise Line updates!
