There are lots of perks to being a Disney Vacation Club member. Sometimes it’s a little difficult to understand the fine print, what it all really gets you, and if it’s worth it in the long run, but one of the perks people really enjoy is getting access to an Annual Pass they otherwise wouldn’t get.
Unfortunately, you don’t get a FREE Annual Pass with your very expensive DVC membership, but many members do appreciate the ability to buy the Sorcerer Pass, which is the second-highest tier on the passholder program and usually only available to Florida Residents. However, it’s important to note that Disney recently changed their wording to crack down on WHO exactly can get this pass as a DVC member.
Recently, Disney adjusted the wording on their page to reflect a crackdown on WHO can purchase a Sorcerer Pass with a DVC membership. The wording USED to say, “To purchase the Disney Sorcerer Pass, Disney Vacation Club Members must be eligible for Membership Extras. Membership Extras are incidental benefits — these offers are subject to availability, change or termination and may require a fee.”
However, the new wording has some very important distinctions. The NEW wording now reads, “To purchase the Disney Sorcerer Pass, Disney Vacation Club Members must be eligible for Membership Extras. Passes may only be purchased by eligible Members for themselves and their immediate family living in their household, up to a total of eight (8) per year. Annual pass offers are not part of the ownership interest and are an incidental benefit subject to availability, change or termination.”
This means that you won’t be able to purchase a Sorcerer Pass for extended family members or any family members who are living outside of your home. If you happen to have a large immediate family, one where eight passes wouldn’t be enough, you’re also going to be out of luck.
It’s important to remember, though, that the Sorcerer Pass DOES still have blockout dates, mostly during holidays, and currently costs $1,099 + tax without the DVC discount. You can hold up to five reservations at a time, which is a big help for those who are coming in from out of town. There are Good to Go days, though, where no Annual Passholders need a reservation, so keep an eye out for those if you’ve already used up your five reservations.

Actually, That’s not entirely true. I work for Disney and the DVC pass is not discounted. It is the same price as it is for Florida residents , the only difference is that DVC members are eligible to purchase the Sorcerer Pass. If you are neither DVC or a Florida resident then the only option for you is the Incredi Pass. Also, if you have More than eight people in your household, we can always make the exception to add more. It’s not a problem. Hope this helps!
When I bought my DVC membership in 2012, I was told at that time that annual pass purchases were limited to myself and people living in my household. So while Disney may be stepping up enforcement, this is not actually a new rule.
what is the discount for dvc members annual pass
There is no discount for the annual pass – DVC members pay the same as Florida Residents. The only benefit of being a DVC member is that you can live out of state and still get the Sorcerer’s pass, instead of having to buy the Incredipass that most out-of-state AP holders have to buy. The cost to redeem an annual pass is a little less than than the cost to purchase one, but that is pretty much the only savings you get, and every passholder gets that one.
