Carnival Cruise Line is currently facing a lawsuit from a Florida man suing for 5 million dollars, after being injured on a cruise back in May of last year.
He claims to have received second-degree burns while on the ship. Let’s see everything we know about this case and the lawsuit against Carnival.
While on the Carnival Magic last year, this passenger allegedly received second-degree burns on his feet after walking only 20 steps across the hot pool deck. The lawsuit accuses Carnival of not properly warning its guests of the deck temperature or having measures in place to ensure that the deck does not reach temperatures that could harm guests.
According to the lawsuit, the passenger in question received a ” severe and life-changing injury.” The 5 million dollar compensation is meant to cover medical expenses and lost earnings, as well as the mental struggle of experiencing this injury.
According to the lawsuit, Carnival has had at least 25 similar injuries, as well as 42 other complaints, over the past six years about a hot deck before this lawsuit. Carnival has not publicly commented on this lawsuit.

Is common sense gone? I mean, it’s hot. The ground will be hot. That’s like asking pools to put signs up around the pool saying that the concrete will be hot and to use caution. It’s common sense. Now, I can understand little kids but grown adults need to quit suing because they have no common sense. I got burned by a very hot plate at a restaurant the other night. The waiter said “The plate is very hot”. I hear him but still touched it. Am I going to sue? No. Did he HAVE to tell me it was hot? No. I could see the steam. Does McDonalds or Starbucks need to tell people that the coffee is hot? No but apparently now days people still need to be told how to think and use common sense. I mean, a grown man, on a hot day, suing because he walked on a hot surface. Was the surface NOT hot when he got it? If it was HOT when he got in then it was HOT when he got out. Did he walk from the chair to the pool? Or did he jump? Teleport? Just more people trying to get a quick million (but after taxes he won’t get $5 million but then he’ll still have to pay taxes on it.)
I burnt the soles of my feet in Blizzard Beach in 1995. Florida was the hottest place I’d ever been to at that point. They were painful for a few days but it never occurred to me to sue anyone. I bought some of those swim shoes when I came back the next year and it’s a tip that I always tell first timers.
