If you just felt an earthquake in Central Florida, don’t worry, you weren’t hallucinating.
A 6.4 magnitude earthquake was reported 104 kilometers west-northwest of Mantua, Cuba, at 2 PM ET on June 8th, with several of our Central Florida-based team reporting feeling its effects.
Earthquakes aren’t too common on the East Coast of the United States, but they have been known to happen from time to time. In this case, the actual earthquake took place off the coast of Cuba. While the earthquake didn’t take place in Central Florida, its impact was felt throughout much of the area and in South Florida as well. Some of our team members reported feeling the ground shake, along with furniture shaking in their homes.
Our reporter at Disney World said she didn’t feel anything, but it’s possible others in the “Disney Bubble” did. We also checked the locations of Disney cruise ships to see if they may be impacted, and the Disney Destiny likely felt some of the effects. It’s possible that the Disney Fantasy felt some impact as well, but as of now, nothing has been confirmed.
We’ll be on the lookout for the latest updates you need to know about from Disney World and beyond. In the meantime, stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more.
