We are Disney Food Blog, and we have made it our job to want to lead you toward the best possible dining options during your trip.
However…we’ll also be honest and tell you when a restaurant really wouldn’t be worth your time, because we don’t want you to spend a ton of money on a meal and then come out disappointed. So we’ve done some hard thinking, and these are the restaurants we really think you should skip this year.
Be Our Guest Restaurant
Over in Magic Kingdom, you’ll find Be Our Guest — a table service restaurant that allows you to dine in the Beast’s Castle from Beauty and the Beast? Stunning? Absolutely? And we’d even go as far as saying it’s a must-do for die-hard Beauty and the Beast fans…but other than that, we really don’t recommend.
The truth is that this spot is EXPENSIVE — as expensive as character dining meals are around the resort (and even more expensive than a few of those), and while you’re definitely paying for the atmosphere and experience, this ISN’T a character dining meal. You’ll see the Beast for a second and get to wave from afar, but that’s it.
Not to mention that the food here just really isn’t great and has let us down some of the times we’ve eaten here in the past few years. Again, if you’re fine paying for that atmosphere, then go for it, but know that you may be left wanting by this prix-fixe meal. If you’re going to spend that kind of money and want just as picturesque an experience WITH characters, we suggest heading to Cinderella’s Royal Table instead!
Space 220
Speaking of amazing atmosphere but meh food, we have Space 220 in EPCOT. Now, normally EPCOT is known for its fantastic restaurants and it’s rare we find one we dislike, but Space 220 makes that list.
Don’t get us wrong, the setting here is AMAZING. You get to feel like you’re traveling up into space to have a meal among the stars, and that’s truly a meal like no other. While the food is a little more adventurous, that’s not our issue with it (though adult picky eaters will likely HATE it because you can’t order off the kids menu here) — it’s that for the price you’re paying, the food just isn’t enough to make the whole experience worth it.
Not to mention we’ve had many readers of ours say that the experience is a lengthy one, and not in the way you enjoy and expect from a table service restaurant. No, they’ve said that their service was very slow and they were sitting at their table for the whole experience for 2+ hours! Listen, sitting in space is cool, but there are a lot of OTHER things to do in EPCOT, you don’t want to be spending that much time stuck in the middle of the night sky.
Pinocchio Village Haus
Moving over to a quick service spot, we’re quite literally begging you to go to ANY other quick service spot in the entirety of Magic Kingdom than Pinocchio Village Haus.
This spot serves up mostly classic theme parks eats with a few different offerings here and there. At best, this restaurant is meh, and at worst (which is more often than we’d like) it’s flat out blech. We can’t tell you the amount of times we’ve gotten something here that we’ve downright hated.
We can’t say the same for basically any other spot in Magic Kingdom, even Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe, so just take our word for it and head straight past this one. Is it going to make you sick or be downright terrible? No, not necessarily, but when people talk about a bad food experience in Magic Kingdom, this is usually where we think they’re talking about (and we’re right at least half of the time).
Rosie’s All-American Cafe
Over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, finding great dining options is a struggle sometimes if you don’t know where to look. And we’ll tell you right now, DON’T look at Rosie’s All-American Cafe because you’ll be disappointed most likely.
Again, this isn’t a restaurant that will have you spitting out your food and exclaiming in disgust, but you’ll pay those high Disney prices for plain old theme park food and essentially go “um…that wasn’t worth it.” We’ve eaten here countless times and basically forget it exists unless there’s a new dining option we have to review.
