Well, we know that a lot of guests will be unhappy in the coming weeks and months as Disney’s Polynesian Resort undergoes some serious refurb and renovation — closing several of the dining locations on property.
But THIS is a welcome “benefit” of the whole situation!
We’re excited to let you know that everyone’s favorite Disney dessert (OK — my favorite dessert, but I know you guys like it, too!) from ‘Ohana is now available to any Tom, Dick, or Harry who strolls into Tambu Lounge!
Yep — this better-than-anything pineapple bread pudding topped with ice cream and covered in caramel sauce is more than the sum of its parts…and you can get your own personal serving at the Poly’s popular resort lounge. No more need to buy the whole dinner at ‘Ohana to get the very best part!
(You can see a review of other great Tambu Lounge goodies here!)
We’ve been asking for years if we can get this must-have dessert at the Lounge, and while it’s happened a few times, the answer is more than often “no.” We’re thrilled that — at least for a little while — the answer will be a resounding “YES!!” Note that the serving will just be for one…you do NOT get that lovely all-you-care-to-eat bowl of the stuff here. 😉
We’re not sure how long this will be available, but it’s going to become a new Disney World First Day Tradition for me until it’s gone!
Can’t make it to WDW right now? Make this at home with our Bread Pudding Recipe!
Will Tambu Lounge be a stop on your Disney destination list now that the famous bread pudding is on the menu? Let us know in the comments below!

I always thought it was bread pudding with banana rather than pineapple? Exciting to see it being served in the lounge, I love the bars in WDW that let you order exciting dishes rather than just a bit of bread or bowl of nuts.
AJ says
Miranda — The bread pudding has always used ‘Ohana’s pineapple coconut bread, but the sauce has historically been a bananas foster sauce. A while back, Disney started billing the bread pudding as “pineapple bread pudding,” so that’s what we go with here, too. The sauce, I believe, is still the same.

Just what I need – another reason to spend several hours at the Tambu.

Woo hoo!!! Enough said:)

Can you give some more information about the changes you mentioned, Will Ohana be closed during the changes and if so, when and how long? We are planning a family reunion in June and Ohana is the centerpeice of our trip.
AJ says
Michael — No worries; ‘Ohana will remain open! Captain Cook’s will be closed, and there will be lots of construction going on in the great ceremonial house, parking lot, and other areas.
JennyGirlMSU says
Hi AJ,
Will Captain Cook’s (or any other restaurant) be closed during September? This will be my first time staying here and now I am worried my experience won’t be as grand with all the construction going on. I know they are renovating the lobby and adding the DVC rooms. Love the blog,by the way!
Thank you!
Dawn says
I’m so glad to know that Ohana will still be open in June! But with Captain Cook’s closed, is there any place else outside of the parks that we’ll be able to get our Dole whips? Might the Tambu Lounge have mercy on us whip-fanatics and serve those as well? I’m a grown woman, but I might just break down and cry if I find out there will be no Dole Whips during our trip!
Sherri Browning Erwin says
I never need an excuse to go to Tambu Lounge, and it’s already hard enough to find seats during peak hours. But of course, I’m all for any easy way to get this dessert, one of my favorites at WDW.
Shannon says
Super excited about this! Super bummed about Captain Cooks! Was hoping to get Tonga Toadt there in May. Any idea of the closing dates of it? I thought I read there might be a small place open during construction. Any Tonga Toast there?
Holly says
So just to make sure I’m not confused, Kona will be open at the end of May, correct? We have dining reservations for the 23rd.
Thanks!
Andy says
Can you order more than one? I understand the whole not all-you-can eat, but I would eat 3-4 servings of this instead of dinner any day! Do we have a price on a single serving yet?
Rach says
Now if only the Tambu Lounge could get to babysit the Dole Whip Machine while Captain Cook’s is closed… Could you imagine the Lapu Lupu with a Dole Whip topping!
sandy says
This is great news. I love the bread pudding and would like to just be able to order it by itself instead of having dinner.
Christine says
Best. News. Ever!!
Laura says
I was thrilled to find this for only $5 at Tambu Lounge in May 2015! Anyone know if it is still available there? Here’s hoping for my trip in October!
Jodilee says
Is the bread pudding STILL at Tambu Lounge? Heading to Disneyworld next week and was unable to snag a Ohana reservation so hoping to do a monorail crawl with my mom and sister and we were really wanting to try that bread pudding.
DFB Sarah says
Jodilee, as far as we know, yes!
Rene says
I can’t find he bread pudding on the lounges menu… is it still available?
DFB Sarah says
Rene, we haven’t checked recently, but we would expect it is still available. We’ll update if it’s not!
