Hey all! We were up before the sun and are reporting live from the Disney 24-hour Rock Your Disney Side event on both coasts!
We’ll be updating this post throughout the day with new eats and treats, so be sure to stay tuned! We already have a LOT to share with you!
For those who haven’t heard about this event, it’s Disney’s opportunity to kick off the Summer season (and to promote their new rides and movies) by being open for 24 solid hours at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom and Disneyland! Guests get the chance to indulge in one-day-only treats and goodies, have access to fun one-day-only merchandise, and fight super SUPER huge crowds (always a must when you’re at Disney, right?). 😉
OK, let’s dive right into the list of what we’ve been noshing on this morning…
Disney World AND Disneyland Specialty Treats
So with this whole “both coasts homogenize all their food” thing (blerg), you can see similar specialty treats in Disney World and Disneyland more and more often. This is definitely happening for this big event!
Rock Your Disney Side Heroes vs. Villains Cupcakes
Of COURSE there are specialty cupcakes! How could they deny us this?
Today, they’re featuring vanilla and chocolate versions with little villains and heroes logo chocolate pieces on top. (I guess your “Disney side” is heroes vs villains?)
Maleficent Themed Rice Krispie Treats, Caramel Apples, and Cake Pops
These Maleficent goodies are definitely some of the most creative I’ve seen in a while! Interestingly, the cake pops were executed MUCH better in Disneyland than they were in Disney World, so I chose the prettier pic to share. 😉
Disney World Specialty Treats
There are a few goodies debuting at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom today! (We’re hoping some of them might hang around on the menus, but, sadly, most of them won’t.) We’re super excited about this one in particular:
Poisoned Apple Waffle Sundae
Found at Sleepy Hollow in Magic Kingdom’s Liberty Square, this lightly sweet waffle is topped with vanilla soft serve and stewed apples (basically good apple pie filling). The whole thing is sprinkled with green and purple sugar crystals to promote the new Maleficent film.
Breakfast Dog
Over at the Lunching Pad, this breakfast dog features sausage, eggs, and plastic cheese!
Character Cupcakes
These new cupcakes featuring some of your favorite characters are at Main Street Bakery today!
Belle Princess Cupcake
Found at Gaston’s Tavern, this Belle cupcake with a fondant rose on top is special for today!
Orange Bird Caramel Apple
I have no idea why this little cutie debuted today, but I love it! Featuring the Orange Bird, the classic Disney World specific character introduced to promote the Florida Orange Growers at Magic Kingdom’s Sunshine Tree Terrace, this little guy is a long-time Disney World fan favorite.
Olaf Souvenir Mug
This fun souvenir Olaf cup comes with blue raspberry slush at Friar’s Nook and a frozen carbonated beverage at Lunching Pad. These will be staying on past today, so you’ll be able to get yours when you visit.
Disneyland Specialty Treats
In case you’re spending part of your day at Downtown Disney we’ve got this handy list of operating hours for you!
We’re getting some first yummo looks at what’s going in Disneyland as well, thanks to our Dining in Disneyland Columnist Heather Sievers!
Heather spied this amazing Mac & Cheese Flatbread earlier! You’ll find it at Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta at Disney California Adventure’s Paradise Pier!
It’s been pronounced “amazing!!!!!!” (That’s six exclamation points. So you know it’s gotta be good.)
For a cool frozen treat in Disney California Adventure, head to Clarabelle’s and try their S’Mores Bar.
Vanilla or Chocolate Ice Cream dipped in Milk or Dark Chocolate, and then sprinkled with Graham Cracker Crumbs and drizzled with Marshmallow Fluff! Yes please!
Can’t wait to share more goodies with you from this 24-hour Disney Day on both coasts!
Stay tuned for more great treats throughout the day! It’s time to Rock your Disney Side!
What specialty treats are catching YOUR eye? Let us know in the comments below!

Can you tell me if there is any exclusive FOOD (dinner/lunch) that they are offering??
Disneyland seems to have dumplings and special flatbreads and new hotdog combos all for this event but all i’ve seen that we have in Orlando0 is breakfast food and sweets???
Please tell me i’m wrong!

Streaming live! Look forward to hearing more! Great job as usual!

Gabrielle — Disney World is offering this menu for the day. Really they only released info on breakfast food and sweets. That doesn’t mean there won’t be more available as the day goes on; it just means they didn’t promote it beforehand.

Yeah, I would check on the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant throughout the day. That’s where they had the beignets and a couple other specialty items last year, but as far as I can remember, they didn’t open until 1:00am-ish.
I don’t think they really advertised that they were going to open that location last year, so it was kind of a surprise… but again… it was still basically dessert and breakfast type of offerings.
I wouldn’t hold my breath for much more in the way of food at the Magic Kingdom though. They don’t “have” to do anything more than what they’ve done to draw a crowd. Disneyland’s audience, is a bit different, more local I’m guessing… and require some extra “draw” to keep people in the park after normal close (aka more diverse food offerings).

I like the idea of the breakfast dog, but couldn’t they get some better cheese?
Love the Belle cupcake…so cute!

Oh My Gosh! If I didn’t live so far away I’d go just for the Orange Bird apple. I love Orange Bird! Too cute.

Ok, first of all… I can’t even begin to explain how bummed I am to be missing out on yet another 24-hr event. And we were originally planning on going this week, but went in March, instead!
Secondly, I really love all the Maleficent stuff. Not only does it all look delicious and super cool, but also, Sleeping Beauty is my favorite of the original classic films. Mostly because of how awesomely villainous Maleficent is. I can’t WAIT to see the movie on Friday.
Lastly, this is only tangentially related, but literally every time you mention plastic cheese, I get violent cravings for cheese fries from Cosmic Ray’s. So simple, yet so spectacular! I wonder how much a last minute flight would be for… tonight… :/

I had the Apple Berry Flatbread at Village Haus in Disneyland but didn’t think to take a pic. It was delicious. A flatbread with sweet cream cheese spread, topped with poached apple dices, fresh strawberry, fresh blueberries and fresh mint.
Angelina says
@Peter: That sounds delish!!!!! I’d rather have that one than the mac and cheese option. It creeps me out how many places are throwing mac and cheese on some other food and calling it gourmet but to each his own right?
