You know how we love our over-the-top gourmet HOT DOGS here at the DFB!
From the Barbecue Slaw Hot Dog and Chili-Cheese Dog at Casey’s Corner, to the Coney Island Dog at The Lunching Pad, to the fun assortment at The Mara in Animal Kingdom Lodge (the Mara BLT Hot Dog, the Reuben Hot Dog, and the African Chili-Cheese Hot Dog)… well, the bigger the variety of toppings to choose from, the better!
And now we’re excited to have SEVEN new gourmet hot dogs to add to the list at the Grand Floridian’s Gasparilla Island Grill! But there’s a little twist: the menu rotates. There are seven different hot dogs, with a different one featured each day of the week. Each hot dog is inspired by a different city or state in the U.S. So, let’s take a Hot Dog Tour of the country — courtesy of Gasparilla Island Grill — starting in…
Cleveland — Available on Sundays
The Cleveland Dog is topped with coleslaw and hot sauce. And the fries? Don’t look on the side for for this natural pairing, because they’re on top of this dog, too!
Seattle — Available on Mondays
The Seattle Dog is topped with cream cheese (now, why didn’t I think of that?), but you’ll have to look under a huge — and SPICY! — pile of jalapeños, cabbage, and Sriracha to find it!
Kansas City — Available on Tuesdays
Sauerkraut and Swiss cheese surround the Kansas City Dog, served on a sesame seed bun.
Memphis — Available on Wednesdays
Bacon, barbecue sauce, chopped scallions, shredded cheddar… what’s not to love about the Memphis Dog?
Idaho — Available on Thursdays
The Idaho Dog is the only Hot Dog of the assortment that will NOT be served on a bun baked fresh in the Grand Floridian Bakery. That’s because it’s served on a BAKED POTATO! Bacon bits, chives, sour cream, and cheddar cheese round out the toppings.
New York — Available on Fridays
The New York Dog is a classic: mustard, sauerkraut, and onion sauce make up the toppings list.
Chicago — Available on Saturdays
The Chicago Dog comes complete with a pickle spear, tomatoes, whole sport peppers, chopped onions, green relish, and mustard… oh, and a dash or two of celery salt, of course. It’s all on a poppy seed bun.
So, there you have it… seven new reasons to visit Gasparilla Island Grill (if you’re a hot dog fan, of course!). Will you be taking that monorail trip from the Magic Kingdom to try one?
Which of the new Gasparilla Hot Dogs tops your list? And does YOUR town have a signature Dog? Please let us know with a comment!

The Chicago Dog certainly looks authentic. And yes I’m originally from Chicago.
Hannah says
MOST of those look amazing!
Adrienne says
First the crazy hamburgers at Pop and now this? Wonder what’ll be next…

I truly love Disney, I even bought into DVC, but I am a bit upset about the Cleveland dog, as Pittsburgh is world famous for putting coleslaw and French fries on sandwiches since the 1930’s, we invented it, why in the world (pun intended) would they call this one a Cleveland dog and not a Pittsburgh dog.
Essie says
I like hot dogs nice and hot, on a bun, period. Nothing on them. Just the dog, all by itself.
Chris says
The Cleveland dog is based on a polish boy that was invented in Cleveland. It’s usually a smoked sausage with coleslaw, fries, and hot sauce.
Regina says
I agree with Lisa! The Cleveland Dog should definitely be called the Pittsburgh Dog!!! That was my first thought as I read the blog. Primanti Bros have been putting coleslaw and fries on sandwiches since 1933, and it’s a classic Pittsburgh original!
Sandra says
I really think the poor Kansas City dog deserves a sprinkle of caraway seeds and/or a squiggle of beer-based grainy mustard.
Chloe says
I’m from Seattle, our hot dog stands do offer cream cheese, and yes, it’s as wonderful as it sounds 😉 I’m eyeing that Idaho dog though, yum!
Roy Clements says
Please on the Chicago Dog apply the mustard First, from the picture it looks like it was applied last. Make sure the dog is temp hot and bun steamed soft. I will be looking forward on trying this Jan 2016.
Roy Clements says
Please on the Chicago the Mustard is applied first not last on top like the picture.
Marc says
If it has fries and slaw….it’s a Pittsburgh Dog!
Margaret Drayden says
EVERYBODY knows if it has coleslaw and fries on it, it’s from PITTSBURGH!!! Primanti Brothers in Pittsburgh puts everything on their sandwiches and are famous for it.
But I love Thursday’s idea of using a baked potato! Wowie! A complete meal. Yum!
We love Gasparilla’s! They have the most incredible cupcakes – so we’ll make trips to the GF just to get a cupcake!
FYI, if you’d like one of their signature sandwiches from the sandwich bar, but need them to customize it a bit, they’ll be happy to do that for you. — Actually, some people working there may NOT know they can do it, but just let them know that you really need it a bit differently and they’ll do it. …. I speak from experience. (smile) Now that I’m getting older, I’m stuck with a very fussy stomach and need to make sure that what I eat isn’t going to have me rolling on the ground in pain. It’s a bummer, but whataya going to do?
Anyway, enjoy, enjoy!
