February is the month we celebrate love!
And since we LOVE few things more than checking out all the goings-on with FOOD all over Disney World, what say we take a whirlwind tour around the parks (and a few resorts) and see What’s New?!
Magic Kingdom
Yep, things DO cool down in Florida in the winter months, so what better way to warm up than with a cup of LeFou’s Winter Brrrew at Gaston’s Tavern?
This hot beverage of cocoa with Toasted Marshmallow flavor topped with whipped cream and crushed candy cane made its debut a little while ago, but it was just recently added to Gaston’s main menu. Will the select brew be changing with the seasons? Time will tell…
And speaking of seasons, a Vermont Maple Walnut Muffin has replaced the seasonal Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin at some of the park Starbucks locations such as Magic Kingdom’s Main Street Bakery.
Stop by Sleepy Hollow Refreshments for a sweet to share with YOUR sweet: the Black Forest Waffle with vanilla ice cream!
It’s just a couple of quick trips on the Monorail (check out the Zooptopia overlay)…
…over to our next stop!
Epcot
Be sure to hit up Fountain View if a chocolate cupcake featuring a strawberry-marshmallow center, strawberry buttercream frosting, and glittery ganache drizzle sounds like the perfect Valentine treat for you.
Love the Traditional Kjottkake at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in the Norway Pavilion, but don’t have an Advance Dining Reservation lined up? Well, stop by Kringla Bakeri og Kafe and grab a smaller version of this tasty meatball dish! We’ll have a full review of this one very soon.
And right next door in the Mexico Pavilion, we tried the Beet Margarita at La Cava del Tequila. (We’ll have a review of this one soon as well!)
But that’s not all that’s new at La Cava; the operating hours have changed, too. GREAT news… you’ve now got an extra hour to Drink Around the World, since La Cava now opens at 11:30 am instead of noon. And they’ll stay open until 9:30!
THANK YOU, LA CAVA!!!!!
Animal Kingdom
Starting your day in Animal Kingdom? Then you may want to do what we did and check out the newest Sunrise Cocktails at the Dawa Bar from 9:00 – 11:00 am!
We grabbed the Watermelon Mimosa and Tusker Beermosa.
Later in the day, the Dawa Bar is also serving a new Chenza Cooler: Snow Leopard Vodka mixed with tangerine lemonade. Sounds amazing.
The Smiling Crocodile kiosk in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is now serving Smoky Cheddar Grits.
Check out our review here!
And if you think the Smiling Crocodile itself is new… nope! It’s just the former Gardens Kiosk that’s been renamed along with several other Animal Kingdom kiosks like Eight Spoon Cafe, Mahindi, and Caravan Road. Just click on any of those links to discover their former identities 😉 .
Hollywood Studios
The Lady and the Tramp Cupcake is back at Counter Service locations all over Disney’s Hollywood Studios for a Valentine’s celebration.
Check spots like Starring Rolls Cafe, The Trolley Car Cafe, and ABC Commissary to see these two cuties on a cupcake!
And before we leave the parks, don’t forget to stop by the Joffrey’s Coffee Kiosks you’ll find all over Disney World to grab one of the current seasonal specialties, like the Cupid’s Kiss.
Now, what’s happening at a few of our favorite Disney World Resorts?
Resorts
Pop Century
Did you see the mini-craze that’s taken over Everything Pop and Landscape of Flavors? I’m referring to the Mini Whoopie Pies and Mini Tarts we checked out a couple weeks ago. Well! Guess who now has their own Mini Whoopie Pie at Everything Pop? That would be The King himself… with a new version of an old treat.
The King Whoopie Pie takes the elements of the King Cupcake — banana, peanut butter, chocolate, and candied bacon — in its own new creation. Frankly, it kinda made me want to check into the Heartbreak Hotel a la Elvis himself when I found out this replaced our beloved King Cupcake… at least for now. We miss the cupcake version here at DFB. Look for a review on this new Whoopie Pie soon!
Polynesian Village Resort
Speaking of amazing eats, the Red Velvet Pancakes are back at Kona Cafe…for one week only!
Things are coming along nicely for future guests at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort who have a refurbished Oasis Pool to look forward to when it reopens in the spring.
And what, exactly, does that have to do with food? Well, this refurbishment is also expected to result in a new poolside bar! If you look very closely, you’ll see construction on the left of this photo.
Contemporary Resort
Stop by Contempo Cafe and find this Mexican Coffee Cupcake through February 27th: a chocolate cupcake filled with Mexican coffee cream topped with coffee buttercream icing.
And crowns up, Princesses! If you’re participating in the Princess Half Marathon Weekend by RunDisney, Contempo will also have a special cupcake commemorating your accomplishment only available during race weekend! That should make for a pretty sweet photo prop to go along with your MEDAL!!
Whew! That does it for this round of What’s New. Goodbye for now from Minnie and the rest of the gang at Disney World!
And until next time, Eat and Be Happy!
Have you spotted anything new during a recent trip around the World? We’d love to hear about it in a comment!

Will be there this time next year right before our Valentine…and anniversary…Disney cruise. Can’t wait to see what’s available next year at this time. Everything looks amazing.

We were just at Pop Century and I was so sad that there were no King Cupcakes (or anything King for that matter): we must have just missed this by a few days! 🙁
I guess that means we have to start planning our next trip. Although next time we are going to splurge and stay at the Polynesian or Contemporary! 🙂

The choc. cupcake with the strawberry marshmallow center and strawberry buttercream icing sounds wonderful. Of course, I think the Lady and the Tramp cupcake is adorable!

The chocolate waffle at Sleepy Hollow was only served after 5 pm on our recent weekday visit but was well worth the wait. People were asking us “What is THAT?!!”
