Any plans to DROP by the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror in Disney’s Hollywood Studios?
Well, even if you don’t plan to take on the haunted elevator itself, you may find it worthwhile to stop by one of these days anyway. That is, if the rumors are true that a themed bar may be added to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attraction, according to wdwnt.com.
Said to be in the works for a location planned at the attraction’s exit (before entering the merchandise shop), the spot would offer some much-needed oomph in regards to food and beverage offerings in Hollywood Studios, which has recently lost several eateries (including one full Counter Service location with Studio Catering Co., and one bar with High Octane Refreshments) in conjunction with the closure of the Streets of America section of the park to make way for the future Toy Story and Star Wars Lands.
It would also bring more offerings to the area of the park where the headliner attractions are housed, especially in light of the attraction closures that have taken place throughout the park, such as the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show, the Studio Backlot Tour, and the American Idol Experience.
Is this development likely? Why not? Disney’s not known for putting dining establishments into their attractions, but it sure would be fun if you ask me. And the area proposed for the bar at ToT is a perfect location.
We did a story previously on the fictional Sunset Room Restaurant in the lobby of the Tower of Terror, and of course there’s the mentioned Tip Top Lounge in the attraction’s backstory.
This area would be ideal for a watering hole, though I’d suggest a separate entrance so that patrons who aren’t interested in waiting in line to ride the ride are able to enter without wandering through the gift shop first.

While in general I’m not crazy about the huge boom in liquor consumption at WDW, I think this is a terrific idea that would be special to Disney.

OMG this would be great!! – my nephew whose 7 really dosnt like this ride so this could be the perfect place for him to wait with the grandparents whilst the rest of the family go ride!!
I really hope they have creepy hotel offerings, such as old fashioned cocktails with dry ice & deco period food offerings – can’t wait to see if and how Disney create this idea!!

I think this is a great idea. It would give guests (like my mom) who have no desire to ride Tower of Terror a chance to experience the attraction and/or a place to hang out while their companions take the drop without them. My mom isn’t a fan of heights or roller coasters, so we don’t make it down to that end of the park too often. I think the most my mom has experienced ToT is to see it from Lake Buena Vista Drive and know that our turn for Hollywood Studios is coming up. 🙂

I’d love this, especially if it is themed to the rest of the TOT story line.
Even more, I’d love to have an elevator-accessed signature restaurant on the top floor… However, I recognize this is extremely unlikely since the top floor of the hotel is only like 5 feet tall (optical illusion to make the hotel smaller through forced perspective), and there was never a plan to build anything but equipment space up there,. So, retrofitting it by putting in an “addition” on the back side to hold a penthouse restaurant, is probably out of the question.

I hope they do this! Twilight Zone theming to the max would be great!

We loved The Adventurers club on Pleasure Island the atmosphere was magical. This would be an amazing experience. Disney is pure magic. Our family loves every moment we’ve shared there together and look forward to our upcoming family vacation.

Exactly what those of us who frequent bars love. Lots of little children at the bar. Not.

My wife & I did the ToT in summer 2011 – it took us 3x back to the bar at Tune-In Lounge before we got on ToT. Would have been nice to have it right there without all the walking back and forth! Looking forward to it for our June 2016 trip!

My husband and I always loved the Blue Bayou restaraunt in Pirates of the Caribbean. We always loved watching the boats go by while we ate. One in Tower would be great. I guess you would not be able to see the people on the ride, but still the atmosphere would be great.

Sounds like a neat idea, but I have to agree with an earlier comment. Who are these people that think it’s a great “waiting” place? This is a big problem in WDW where you see helps of people taking up 10 seats and not one of them is eating or drinking anything bought from that establishment. I know you are on vacation, but it’s still a bar that paying customers might actually want to drink at! Unless your family regularly gets together to meet at bars, pick another location 😉
