Apart from naming places for the atmosphere, I’d be more inclined to include places that actually have darn good food. Places like Flame Tree BBQ, Yachtmans’ Steakhouse, Les Halles Boulangerie, Sanaa… there are so many different price points, kinds of cuisine, and restaurant decor that Disney offers. I’d be hesitant to recommend a place simply because it’s a Disney classic. Chef Mickey’s, while admittedly a favorite of families with very young children, which is totally understandable given the child-friendly array of food and access to characters, has mediocre food at best and is so out in the open with amplified noise. I suppose you’d have to take into account the person to whom you’re giving advice.

I agree with Megan. It really depends on if you bring kids and on how much you want characters. For example, we loved Tusker House for the food and found BOMA pretty disappointing between soups and desserts, but the third visit from Mickey at Tusker House was two too many. For foodies, we’d recommend any of the restaurants in Morocco at EPCOT. Sunshine Seasons at the Land is always a good choice for lunch. At Hollywood Studios, we’ve always had good food at Mama Melrose. Lunch at Sanaa with a view of the savannah is also a treat. Best advice if you are a tourist coming for the first time is to read the reviews here on the DFB to see if the place fits your group.
