at Disney’s Hollywood Studios hasn’t often wowed us in the past. But that may be changing.
The dining spot has previously been strictly counter service in the classic Disney sense of the word. (Check out a recent review here.) You know the set up — order your food from the overhead menu boards, and then step forward with your receipt to collect your tray of drinks and food.
These days, however, ABC Commissary is trying a slightly different approach.
Billing the spot as “fast casual” for the dinner hour, the restaurant takes the same tack as one of our favorites, Wolfgang Puck Express in Disney Springs. The concept is pretty simple: order your food from a cast member and receive a pager. But unlike spots that expect you to come collect your food when the pager goes, off, your food will find you.
Guests choose a seat once they’ve ordered their food, and cast members will deliver the food and drinks to their table. Cast members are also available for other needs during your meal. Flag them down for condiments or anything else you might need.
With the slight upgrade in service, hungry diners can also find a menu that’s a little more than just your standard nuggets and fries (which we love, by the way).
In keeping with some other counter service spots like Liberty Inn in Epcot, ABC Commissary is offering a steak option. The Chimichurri Steak comes with a side of Thick-Cut Fries and a Fire-Roasted Corn Medley.
I’m pretty sure we’ll be trying this one soon!
Other hearty options include a Barbecued Chicken and Ribs Combo, which is served with Fries and Coleslaw.
A dressed up Southwest Burger sounds pretty irresistible, topped with Pepper Jack Cheese, Bacon, Guacamole, and Jalapeño Poppers. The burger comes with a side of Fries as well.
There is some lighter fare too, including Lemon Pepper Salmon with Green Beans and Couscous, or a Greek-inspired Mediterranean Salad, offered with your choice of Chicken or Salmon.
The children’s menu also offers some interesting options, like Salmon or Barbecued Chicken.
It’s great to see some additional meal choices in Disney’s Hollywood Studios as we continue to await all of the new attractions coming to the park!
And now, let’s hear from you. Will you be stopping by ABC Commissary to check out the new fast casual dinner menu? Leave a comment and tell us what you think!

We were just here 11/26/16 it was HORRIBLE!! Worst food I have ever had in the park. We waited at counter so not sure if this had taken effect yet but we ordered the ribs&chicken and it took forever even though hardly anyone in there about 8pm on Sat. Food was cold, doused in bbq sauce, chicken skin was slimy. Only thing we ate was the coleslaw. For $17??? Cast members were all standing around dining area talking to each other, all condiment pumps were empty or taken apart. No thanks..much better food at every other venue in the Studios. Prefer market area near Rockin Roller Coaster.

Yay! They brought a salmon dish back! This was one of the few good places to get a relatively healthy quick meal at Hollywood Studios.

The words chimichurri and steak were born together in some special little corner of heaven.

I hope the salmon will stand up to the salmon entree from Sunshine Seasons. That’s been one of my favorite QS entrees in any park! Looking forward to the review! 🙂

My family and I ate there last summer, after skipping it for about a decade. I had the salad and thought it was tasty, but I was disappointed in the 20 minute wait time between placing my order and receiving my food. I couldn’t figure out the cUse of the delay, but there were massive crowds of annoyed guests waiting for their food orders behind every register. I wonder if this deliver system isn’t purely a way to clear those crowds away from the lines for ordering…

Visited Nov 26 2016. Ordered food for 4 adults and 2 children. Children have peanut allergies and wife has gluten allergy. I understand the food takes longer when there is an allergy but I waited 33 minutes before the food came out. When it did, most of it was cold. All this for $90. Won’t be back
