Wow. Some weekend, huh? SO MUCH news was released at the D23 Expo on July 15th regarding new experiences coming to Walt Disney World. A bit of it was specific to my personal favorite topic — Dining!! We learned that a brand new Space Restaurant (and RATATOUILLE attraction!!) are coming to Epcot.

But there was SO much more, such as the upcoming Gondola transportation system, additional new attractions, an opening timeframe for Toy Story Land, and more.
But even among these SUPER newsworthy items, the announcement that a Star Wars-inspired themed Resort is coming to Disney World really rocked the Disney news world!

The difference between this upcoming resort and a stay at a traditional Disney Resort is that it will offer an entirely immersive experience. This “living adventure” will welcome guests to become part of a Star Wars Story!
According to Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney World Parks & Resorts: “You’ll immediately become a citizen of the galaxy and experience all that entails, including dressing up in the proper attire. Once you leave Earth, you will discover a starship alive with characters, stories, and adventures that unfold all around you. It is 100% immersive, and the story will touch every single minute of your day, and it will culminate in a unique journey for every person who visits.”

I love the rendering above, which looks to show sleeping compartments. Necessary, I know. But who could possibly spend anytime sleeping in this place?!?

Now, clearly some aspect of this immersive experience will include dining options to feed all the citizens of the galaxy. We already know that Galaxy’s Edge — the confirmed name for Star Wars Land coming to Disneyland and Hollywood Studios — will have a Cantina restaurant and a Star Wars Dinner Club. So, what kind of dining options, experiences, and food could be incorporated into the Star Wars-themed Resort?

I am thinking. Of an out of this world Star Wars salad with antipasto on the side. Like Greek olives. Salami. Pepepperoni. Cheese. And then star war rolls like a Italian bread sliced thin. Maybe toasted And for the main course grilled slices of flank steak smoked on the grill with cherry wood chips and grilled veggies. And for dessert. None other than chocolate and vanilla cakes with strawberry and whipped cream filling. With dark chocolate morsels on the side. And then a super duper star wars coffee in a special mug
They MUST have the blue Bantha milk! (Make a cool mocktail!)
Please bring back the Monte Cristo sandwich. They have it at Disneyland.
I heard through the grapevine that this hotel will charge each guest $1,000 per night to stay there and enjoy the hotel. Is this true or a rumor?
My original thought when I saw the design for the Star Wars hotel was, “does this mean Disney figured out how to save money by not putting real windows in the hotel rooms?” I mean, if there’s the “space” fake window, does that mean there aren’t real glass windows to the outside world? As a side note, this huge Star Wars nerd cannot WAIT to stay here!
Drinks could be really fun and easy to add innovative ideas into both alcoholic and regular beverages ex: juice pearls, smoking drinks, etc..
I know it would be corny, but have the bread rolls look like Leia’s famous side buns.
It would be nice to have exotic meats, and have them Star Wars themed ex: have Buffalo steaks, but call them Bantha steaks (or something).
Have the salads look other worldly to, with sprouts sticking out from interesting greens with pomegranate seeds.
The kids menu should have spacey names to the basics. And it would be nice to have interesting options for the kids that want to branch out from the hum drum.
The main thing that I want to see is a menu and display that looks “new”, and makes it feel like you are eating something that you can’t get on earth.

David — Disney hasn’t shared any of the pricing details yet, but given the fact that they’re talking about it being a first-of-its-kind, totally immersive experience, it’s likely to be very expensive.
Well if a simple basic room at GF is almost $800 peak, I would expect nothing less than $1200/nt incl all the extras. Including a selfie with Jabba and Salacious !
I am looking forward with great anticipation to the great things that will be happening at EPCOT and Hollywood studios. I will miss The Great Movie Ride it is one of my favorites. I will try to visit the G.M.R. a few more times before it closes.
Hey David $1,000 per night would be a bargain! I’m thinking this will be more in the range of the bungalows at the Poly: $2,000+ per night!
