WHOA!!! Do I ever owe DFB Reader Lauren F. a HUGE thank you!
She informed us of some VERY good news… she JUST got a Pineapple and Vanilla Dole Whip SWIRL from Aloha Isle!!!
You may recall when Aloha Isle and Sunshine Tree Terrace switched locations in Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland well over two years ago. But the locations weren’t the only thing that changed at the time: there was a change to the Aloha Isle menu, too. The option to swirl your Pineapple Dole Whip with Orange (or order Orange on its own) was removed from the menu.
In fact, the only flavor on the menu at all was simply Pineapple. And even though Pineapple Dole Whip — often referred to as Pineapple Soft Serve — has been popping up in various locations around Disney World (like the latest beverages at All Star Resort bars, for instance), the only place you have been able to swirl flavors since the location change was the Polynesian’s Pineapple Lanai.
We happily confirmed Lauren’s findings with a visit to the Disney World’s website where Vanilla does, indeed, appear on the Aloha Isle menu!
Yes, the Vanilla is listed as its own item, but Lauren informed us she was able to swirl flavors 🙂 . Hooray!!
Now, if I am being 100% honest, my personal preference lies with the old Pineapple and Orange combo that used to exist here, and I would love to see it come back. Still, if you’ve never tried it since it’s been harder to find, the Vanilla really is a wonderful complement to the Pineapple, mellowing out all that acid a bit and offering a bit more flavor variety. So, I’m very much PRO this option, too!
Thank you again, Lauren, for sharing the terrific news with us!

I agree with you.
The vanilla swirl really mellows out the acidity of the pineapple flavor.
Much better in my opinion.
Glad it’s back.

Any idea if the vanilla is vegan? Doesn’t look like it would be, but since the pineapple is, I’m wondering what it’s made of.
The orange sounds fun. Hope they’ll bring it back some time.

I just got the pineapple vanilla swirl there on Thursday! Had no idea it was “new”. Loved it! For me the pineapple alone is too much.
Jacob says
The vanilla is not vegan… I know most people will be happy about this, but for people with severe dairy allergies who don’t like to risk cross-contamination, this is really a major bummer. There are already so few “sweet” options, and this takes away another.
Caryn says
Thanks for the confirmation, Jacob. I had not thought about the cross-contamination issue. I am sorry that this takes away an option for you.

Dole Whips and Citrus Swirls may be sweet, but ever since they switched the names/locations of the Sunshine Tree Terrace and Aloha Isle, I’ve had a bitter taste in my mouth.
Sarah says
Yes! So excited about this. I’m not big into tart or sour things, and the vanilla with pineapple was perfect. The pineapple alone (especially in float form) I found to be a little too much for me.
Christi says
Someone help me figure this out: I had some version of a Dole Whip float once. I believe it had pineapple soft serve swirled with vanilla, in a cup of orange juice. OR it could have been orange and vanilla swirl, in pineapple juice. Which one do they serve, and what exactly is it called, so I can order it again?
Lynn says
The pineapple is Dole WHip but the Vanilla is not. The manufacture stopped making the4 vanilla four years ago. I know because I also sell this product at my ice cream store and was upset when they dicontinued the vanilla, as I have many customers that purchase it. They have another item they are selling as vanilla dole but it is not dole whip.
