We always make reservations for Sci-Fi Dine In. We have never had a bad experience there with food or service. The atmosphere is awesome. I am a sci-fi geek so I definetely can relate to the theming. The only thing I would change is the movie clips. I read somewhere that the only time they were changed was for the Star Wars breakfasts they used to serve. It would be great if some new clips were made or even better if they showed entire old sci-fi movies!!!! Overall it is one of our fave restaurants to dine.

Totally agree with your top 3. In particular we enjoy eating at the bar at Prime Time Cafe. Especially the ability to take cocktails to go!

I think your review is pretty spot on, AJ. I love 50’s Prime time! It’s fun, creative and the food is usually good, maybe not gourmet, but good. Sci Fi is really fun and we enjoyed it. We’ve only been there once, but would def go back again. I love the Muppets, but that pizza should be illegal, and where are the Mocha Cappuccino cupcakes at, Disney??????? I know you didn’t consider every place, but actually, Sweet Spells can satisfy all my meals for me! lol

Fairfax Fare is a decent counter service, although I miss Studio Catering. The Sci-Fi Dine-In has great theme elements – unfortunately I remember these movies from drive in theaters (I am old), but the food has never been great. When you say malt and burger is the best meal there, it is like a counter service with props (which tend to make up for the food). Mama Melrose was always good for us — pasta & steak. 50’s Prime Time Cafe is the decor we grew up with, comfort foods — tasty. Ask for a well-themed server – it will make it better for your table. Hollywood Brown Derby has a good reputation, but having eaten there a couple of weeks ago, the menu is less tasty, deserts were changed and not appealing, so we skipped them. But the worst was the service. When the waiter asks if you want more drink and you answer yes, please, you do not expect that to take 15 minutes before he comes back and asks if you want more coke, which he had forgotten to deliver. He never asked my wife if she wanted more tea. I have eaten there 6 times in the last decade and this time was the worst service of all. 1 out of 6 is not that bad an odds, but for a signature restaurant, it was not good.
